Honeymoon ideas in the US

Tiffany, on November 14, 2017 at 11:35 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 14

Could anyone give advice on the best and decently priced honeymoon spots. We want somewhere there will be perks for going on our honeymoon there and not a big city or beach. We also have two dogs, so they also need to be dog friendly rooms.

We like the outdoors, hiking, kayaking, biking, exploring, museums, history, zoo's, etc.

Starting point North Texas. We will be driving.

Thanks!

It might be difficult to find somewhere that offers "perks" that isn't in a big city or on a beach. Not saying its impossible, but probably difficult. Based on the things you enjoy doing, and the need to bring your dogs, I would look into an airBNB. My FH and I have had awesome luck with some pet friendly cabins through them here in Oregon.

ETA: Bend, OR or Sunriver (close to Bend, but out of town and more laid back) would actually be an awesome place for you to honeymoon based off your likes. A lot of places are incredibly dog friendly, there are endless breweries, hiking, kayaking, and exploring.

If you're taking your dogs, are you flying or driving? If driving, where are you starting out from?

I'm currently on my honeymoon in Blue Ridge Georgia. Staying in a pet friendly cabin, we brought our 130lb English Mastiff. There are so many hiking trails. We're climbing Blood Mountain (Appalachian Trail) today. I'm loving it here! It was very reasonably priced and we are having such a lovely time.

Asheville, North Carolina. Very dog friendly and amazingly beautiful. Where are you from? I don't want to send you somewhere too close or too far away.

    Gatlinburg, TN or Asheville, NC

Lots of cabin rentals available that could be dog friendly. Right next to the Great Smoky Mountains for hiking and some reservoirs for kayaking. Gatlinburg has Ripley's Aquarium and Asheville has the Biltmore.

    ETA: @HowCo...great minds!

Colorado mountains. Very dog friendly. You could hike and ski in March. Kayaking, probably not.

ETA: the Ozarks might also meet your criteria.

@Duckie did you read the HuffPo article about the couple that eloped there? It's part of a series on modern elopements but that's the only one I've read.

My FH and I did a roadtrip from Houston. We did Colorado. We hit Durango, Hanging Lake, Fort Collins, Boulder, Pikes Peak, Denver, Colorado Spring. We camped the whole way. We did a lot of hiking.

I live in North Carolina now. I love Asheville. You could go from North Texas to Hot Springs, Ark to the Smoky Mountains. You can pick up the Blue Ridge Parkway and head down into Asheville.

You could do some National Parks out west - Grand canyon, Zion, Bryce.

I've never been, but I've heard Branson Missouri is fun or the smokey mountains in Tennessee shouldn't be too far. When I lived in East Texas, I loved going to Pensacola Beach, FL and NOLA but it sounds like that isn't what you are looking for

The Grand Canyon! I live really close to Branson as the previous poster mentioned and it's a lot of fun there! Very touristy but it's located in the Ozark Mountains so its beautiful! I've always wanted to go to Yellowstone so that might be fun. I hear the Gatlinburg area is fun and also Colorado
