Priscilla, on June 28, 2016 at 8:15 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

I need help! My FH wants to keep pushing out our date farther away! Is he getting cold feet? How do i make him stop and set a official date?

Booking a venue tends to solidify the date (it's hard to change it once it's set in stone). However, before you even think about booking a venue, it sounds like the two of you need to have a serious conversation about when you want to marry each other. Come to a clear decision together about the month and year that would work best for you.

I agree with Chelsie, what's his concern? Is it something financial, wanting timing to be right, etc.? Talk to him about it and then figure out some dates that work for both of you. Figure out the pros and cons of each and move forward that way.

My FH was freaked about the cost (until we worked it out with financial help from my mom) so it may just be that he is worried that y'all need time to save and plan.

Talk to him about why and it will all be okay!

Definitely talk to him. Any number of factors could be the cause. How's his behavior about the wedding otherwise? Does he seem excited? Talk about your future as a married couple? Are there any other big stressors in his life right now?

I agree with the PPs. Discuss his reasons for wanting to push the date back. Also, how long have you been engaged? If it's recent, he may just be overwhelmed.

You don't really have a date until you have a venue booked. In reality, you may have a hard time finding a venue that's even available on a Friday in July 2017 because venues book up quickly during prime wedding season and I can guarantee that people have begun booking things for next year. That being said, you need to have a heart to heart conversation about why he wants to push the date back. You will need to come up with a compromise. Then you need to find and book a venue.

Thank you! He seems to be excited about the wedding. I am taking yalls advice and I am going to sit down with him to have a conversation. We have been engaged for 8 months now. He is a linesman and works all sorts of hours. Sometimes 7 days a week.

Sit down and talk with him for sure. Then once you have the date go ahead and book the venue so it is set in stone
