Help with designing Wedding invitation cards??

Erica, on November 27, 2014 at 2:18 AM Posted in Planning 0 6

My sister’s wedding is planned for February. She put me in charge of designing and printing invitations and table name cards. Printing is not a problem as I can easily go to any printing services like Clubink in Toronto. But the designing and organizing of the cards are the things that matter and I am having trouble with. She told me not to ask any suggestions from her on the cards and responsibility is completely with me . What is the present trend in invitation card designs? Any suggestions on good invitation card designs can be of great help.

You can look on Pinterest for ideas or Etsy. I'm going to order through Vistaprints or shutterfly. Just play around. I hope that she has at least given you her wedding colours and a theme or something. There are a whole whack of threads on here about invitations so maybe search through those for more info and ideas.

Does she have a theme? or colors? Is her wedding leaning to romantic? modern? country chic? For instance, I wanted ours to be sort of casual, and it had to relate to welcoming our guests to our home state of Virginia (most guests were not from here). So, I chose a pineapple - which is the state symbol of hospitality, a fun font, and printed them on ivory stationary with the pineapple printed in orange (our wedding colors). It should fit the overall feel of the wedding.

This is a really odd task for her to delegate without giving you any further details. I'd honestly suggest to just make her a very traditional black and white one with traditional wording, unless she's having a casual or DW.

It really depends on her style of wedding. There are just soon many options out there that its hard to pick one without knowing something about the person or the wedding. Pinterest, Etsy, Vistaprint are good places to start. Even if you don't order any, it will give you design ideas. google image search for wedding invites will also give you some ideas.
