Help me I'm poor

allorubyrose, on October 16, 2016 at 8:23 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 27

I'm seriously trying to save on costs wherever I can and have been debating whether I should do my own makeup or not. I am skilled enough and plan to watch tons of tutorials to master it by the time the wedding comes around but I have to know, has anyone done that?? How'd it go????

I'm thinking about doing the same since FH & I are having a DW and I won't be able to have a makeup trial until a few days before the wedding. You and I have both got some time to practice so I say go for it!

I'm doing my average make up I do every day. I do t trust anyone well enough to leave my face in their hands l! I'm also having my sister do my hair but she is a professional hair dresser.

    I'd say just practice.

I am planning on doing my own makeup. I don't want to spend the money and I don't trust someone else doing my makeup.

I would not suggest Macy's. For one, you are expected to buy makeup in exchange for the free service. Also I had this done one time and I hated the way my makeup looked.

I would not suggest Macy's. My sister had her makeup done there once (I can't remember why) and it came out HORRIBLE. She was in tears.

Maybe give your self three months to really practice a lot, then have someone take pictures in the light you anticipate for the event. If you like it, go for it! If not, you have plenty of time to find a MUA.

I would've never done my own makeup and hair for my wedding. While I think I'm decent at it, I needed it to last ALL day and look good in pictures. Plus, an updo takes skill.

I did my own and got compliments all night...and I am still receiving compliments. Watch lots of tutorials and practice practice practice.

Thanks guys!!! Thankfully my hair is super short and will be for the wedding so I don't need to go to a hairstylist for that. I've also heard that if you buy like $50 worth of makeup at Sephora or Ulta they'll give you a makeover for free, especially if you make an appointment. Has anyone gone this route??

MAC will do your makeup if you purchase $50 worth of makeup totally worth it. They are professional MUA's and you are buying makeup to take with you!

I'm not sure where you live, but Nordstrom's will do your makeup for free with an appointment. I did my own makeup for my first wedding and it stayed all day. My photos were in a magazine and used in the wedding chapel for years. You can do it.

My suggestion. Do a trial run at your favorite makeup counter, buy everything you need and practice, practice, practice. I love MAC makeup for photos.

I would love to get my makeup done, because of how it looks, but I am very self conscience, as well as have an extremely tight budget.

Just remember you need to wear more than usual to show up in professional photos. I got mine done at Sephora but since I'm a rouge member it was free. I still got some samples though.

You are not going to have time on the day of your wedding to go to the mall.

    Hire someone.

If you're going to go to a store and buy $50 in makeup, why not pay the little bit extra to have someone come to you?

I just found a MUA near me who is $75 for the bride and $65 for anyone else. She does charge a travel fee...but I mean...I'd rather have someone come to me than have to drive to the mall, spend $50 on makeup I may or may not ever use again, and hope that the girl doing my makeup (for the first time ever) makes it look the way I want it and so it will look good in photos....

It was the first thing on my "make room in the budget for this no matter what" list. I can do makeup ok, but I don't want to take any risk on the big day.

Don't even think of going to a store for a free makeuomapplication. Wedding makeup is not even remotely the same as mall sample makeup.

I did sephora for my engagement pictures but I wouldn't use them for my wedding. I feel the girl did a decent job which I was nervous about due to her make up looking atrocious but I wouldn't trust a mall make up person to do my wedding make up. Especially when I could have paid $10-$20 more and had an actual MUA do it and not have to buy a $50 gift card I'm never going to use.

Honestly, I think there are better ways to save money. My makeup was 35 dollars at a salon and we saved more than that on flower choices alone.
