Hair/makeup for my bridesmaids

Tara, on January 26, 2016 at 7:07 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13

Hello ladies,

I'm hoping someone can shed some light into this. What are the expectations when it comes to your bridesmaids getting hair and makeup done, more specially, as the bride, am I responsible for paying for this? Or what usually do people do? Thanks ladies!

If you are requiring them to get it done, you pay. If they have the option, they pay

If you are requiring it then you pay for it. I am not requiring it, so I told the girls how much my hs/mua charges and left it up to them. Some are getting their hair done, some are getting makeup, some nothing at all.

If you're requiring that they get hair and makeup done, then you should pay. Otherwise give them the option and they can choose to pay or handle it themselves.

If you are requiring it professionally done, you pay.

Ditto. If its "required" then you pay. Otherwise like Alexis said you can let them know how much and they can decide if they want to pay.

To add on generally you all use the same salon/stylists. If it's optional it doesn't mean everyone goes to their own salon, it just means they can choose if they want to use who you selected or do it themselves.

My BM have agreed to pay for their own hair and makeup (and no, I didn't ask them too). It's not going to be expensive, my hair salon is doing it and the person doing it happens to be a friend of mine...who offered therefore, it's going to be free for myself and cheap for them (:

If you're requiring it, you pay. Optional, they pay. I've heard of brides paying as part of the "gift" to the bridesmaids, controversial about whether or not one should consider it a gift, everyone (bridesmaids included) seems to weigh in differently on this. My suggestion would be to reach out to them and get a good idea of what seems reasonable to them overall.

All of my girls want to get their hair done, so I am going to try and pay for part of that for everyone. Some are getting makeup done and some are not. So, like others have said, if it is optional they can pay.

    ^^ It's definitely not a gift!

Like others said, you require it, you pay. Optional, you can ask them to pay. Same goes for things like mani/pedis, specific shoes/jewelry, and so on. You can say "any black shoe" but if you say "this and only this black shoe" - it's on you.

Personally, hair was optional for my girls but I paid anyway. I was the only one who got makeup done (my stylist did it as her gift to me - she was also a guest as was her assistant (and fiance, but he couldn't make it), there wasn't time for others to get makeup done.

I am getting my makeup done so I asked my bridesmaids if they wanted their makeup done and I am paying for it, not because I am "requiring" it but because I think it will be fun

My cousin will be doing my hair and makeup. She is a professional but is doing it as my wedding gift. She has offered to do the makeup for my BP. I told them they had the option to use her or find some local or do it themselves. I'm not picky

If you want everyone to have the same thing or requiring it then you need to pay. I'm paying for my girls hair, but told them that if they wanted to get their makeup done professionally they cold use our MUA.
