It's very common to have uneven sides now. No one really cares except you. I had 3 BMs and DH had just his brother as a best man. It was no big deal. Only have your nearest and dearest in your party. You both have a lot of people in your wedding party already that the costs will really add up once you factor in their gifts, bouquets, boutonniers, and rehearsal dinner. Don't forget that you will need to include their SO's for the rehearsal dinner too.

7 is already a large party so please don't look at it as nobody likes to be your friend, that's just ridiculous. It's really common to have uneven parties and for good reason. Your bridal party should be the most important people in your life and its pretty unrealistic that you would both have an identical number. Looking back at your photos, think how much more meaningful it will be seeing just the people you love, not some space fillers. You just need to look at it from a different perspective.

You can have some of the BMs walk with two GMs and your photographer will know how to position everyone for photos to stop it looking too one-sided.

I'd have him cut his list by a few and keep your 5.

It sounds like your only option is to have uneven sides. It's pretty common and really not a big deal.

My wedding party is uneven as well. 3 bridesmaid and he has 2. Were ok with it

Double them up i have 8 bms and 4 gm i put 2 bm per gm

I’d see if he can cut his down a bit. 12 is a lot! Plus that will be tough to get everyone in pictures. I think 7 each is reasonable. I will be having 4 brides maids and FH has 4 groomsmen. I told him we needed to have the same number, even though he had several more people in mind initially, he was fine with cutting it down.
