Food for WP while getting ready?

J, on July 1, 2015 at 7:33 AM Posted in Planning 0 19

What is everyone doing for food for the WP?? Looking for some extra ideas... We have sandwich and wrap trays ordered from a local market and my mom is putting together fruit and veg trays (one for the guys and one for the girls). And we have everything for our mimosa bar Smiley smile.

What's everyone having out in the morning? I was thinking croissants, fruit and banana bread... Is that enough?

We started getting ready at about 8:30am at my mom's house. She made a breakfast casserole for us and some cut up fruit. It was delish and filled our bellies. She also had fixings for bloody marys and mimosas

@maltese ooh breakfast casserole is a good idea!

i'll probably do something breakfast-y and then have something light provided while we're getting our hair done. i don't see myself snacking or eating a big meal because well, nerves and a tight dress...but i'll give them something so they don't pass out while standing beside me in the heat during the ceremony Smiley smile. Maybe breakfast casserole and then wraps for lunch.

Seriously...it was so filling, but not so much that we felt bloated or overfull. At around 2pm we started getting hungry and there were talks of the bridal party taking the limo to Taco Bell for a quick trip through the drive through but I nixed that one to take photos and handed people protein bars that I stuck in my tote bag.

I think what you have planned sounds great!

We are doing muffins, scones, danish, bagels, and fruit salad for breakfast.

And then are having sandwiches and soup and salad for lunch.

Our venue is providing both because we have the estate all day and are going to get there to start setting up/doing hair and makeup at 8am.

We'll have a mimosa bar, some sliced fruit and either bagels or finger sandwiches.

We got ready in a hotel. The plan was to walk to breakfast together. But we actually found out we could grab a hot breakfast at the hotel for free, because we were in a suite. So we walked and got starbucks then ate at the hotel. In our room we had mimosas and some snacks, and lots of water bottles. Then we ordered room service for lunch and got a few sandwiches to split. I would definitely recommend having plenty of water, we all drank a ton.

We had quiche and it was perfect. You get buy the 2 pack from Costco for like $6 or make it extremely easy. It was great on my stomach, filling but I didn't need to eat a ton of it. We also had bagels and pastries but I just ate quiche and it was perfect. We did bloody marys too. I had one and it was just enough to calm my nerves.

I'm planning on having bagels, coffee, and fruit while we're getting ready. I might have some wraps too since our day is so long. Hair and makeup starts at 9, first look is at 2, and ceremony is at 5.

Our wedding isn't until 5 and we are pretty much doing what you're doing. A fruit/veg tray for each party, mimosa bar and then a small platter from a deli for light sandwiches.

I was just in a wedding last month and we were up really early to get ready. They had a breakfast casserole and quiche, fruit, muffins and mimosas.

The hotel offers this "afternoon tea" lunch set up with strawberries, pound cake, sandwiches, scones etc. with water and sweet tea that I'll be getting, along with some other stuff that I'll bring in like veggies, maybe some chicken strips. And of course, mimosas.

We were thinking light snacks though the breakfast casserole sounds like a great idea. We didn't want to do anything too heavy since the wedding starts at 2 PM.

I'm gluten free, so maybe keep in mind that some people may not be able to stomach certain foods. Yogurt might be an easy addition and great protein to keep you full!

Quiche is to die for, DMN! That has just become top priority on my list of getting-ready food. Smiley smile Also, I was in a wedding semi recently where the bride also had chocolate for us.

It was wonderful. Chocolate is life. And it added an extra festive element to the getting ready.

We have an amazing Farmer's Market in Des Moines, so a couple out of town friends are going down in the morning to check it out, then bring us all the most amazing breakfast burritos.

I was in a wedding two weeks ago, and we just brought snacks and champagne to the salon. We didn't start getting ready until 11:30, so we had some bagels, cheese and crackers, fruit and veggies...that kind of thing.

I plan to have a similar timeline at my wedding, but we will be getting ready at my mom's house. I am sure we will have the same kind of setup, but maybe with some deli meats for sandwiches, too.

Fruit and pastries in the morning, then we'll be getting ready in a hotel and we're just going to order room service, because screw it.

We are doing pretty much the same thing that you are. Everyone is on their own for breakfast and then the sandwiches and stuff will be out throughout the day.
