Flower girl dress

Amy "Been here too long" W., on February 6, 2011 at 2:59 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7

My flower girl is my 18 year old niece and I'm not sure what to have her wear. At first I thought a white dress like most FG, but now I'm not sure. Do you think I should have her wear red like the BM? Below is a pic of the dress she likes but it will be in Ivory. BTW I don't care about length or style. All of my BM picked their own dresses as well.

HMMM, never heard of a flower girl that old but I would have her wear something with color more similiar to your dress. Ultimately, its what you want her to wear. Its your wedding and you can do what you want.

I agree with Fonsetta. I've seen older flower girl, but they're usually called flower ladies, but hey it's your wedding you can do whatever you want, it's nice to break out of tradition

I'm with the ladies...my FG is 10 going on 18 and having her in a white dress seemed too young for her...she is in a different version of the same color dress as my BMs and we call her more of a "junior" bridesmaid than a flower girl

Jeeze my FG are so young compared to everyone else, they are both 4, and ring bearer is 2 1/2! If she wears red i think she would be mistaken as a BM, i would go with the ivory.

Thanks dsmchix2nv for your vote. I also thought red might confuse people on her role.

I know most people think she is too old, but she is my FG and I am not changing her title or position to fit what's norm. Just not sure what color to put her in.

Have you asked her what color she'd feel more comfortable in? I love the dress she picked out btw! I know at that age, she might feel odd wearing white or ivory to a wedding, even if she IS the FG. Smiley smile But if you allowed your BM to pick their dresses, see what she thinks about the color. What is she carrying for flowers? Is she dropping flowers, or carrying a bouquet? If she's also carrying a bouquet, I agree- she might be mistaken as a BM. Ivory or red would both work. Do you have another color you're using? My FG is wearing yellow and BM are in aqua!

Oh boy...thats a toughy.....red would make her look like a BM and white would look "odd" on an older FG. maybe have her wear a red dress that is different and have a white sash?

What about a completely different color? if there another color for your wedding?

Oh, I would also ask her what color she preferrs. IMHO, white is only for 4 year olds and the bride. Smiley smile
