Eyelash extensions?

Kat_, on April 18, 2019 at 8:48 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 14
Hi ladies! I’m considering getting lash extensions for the wedding and honeymoon but I have some concerns with timing and longevity. How amazing would it be to have full gorgeous lashes during our honeymoon... and no makeup - yes please! I’d love to hear some opinions and experience with lashes please Smiley smile

Our wedding is October 6th and I was thinking getting them October 3rd or 4th. We head out for our honeymoon and return October 25th. That means it will be 3 to 4 weeks before I can get a touch up. Will they look weird and half of them gone by then? I’ve heard touchups every 2-3 weeks so I’m just not sure. I don’t want to look all weird towards the end of our honeymoon with half gorgeous lashes and the others are MIA 🤣.

What do you you guys think?

I got them and they totally ruined my real lashes so I will never get them again. Mine went like two weeks before looking really sparse. I have a lot of friends that love them they just weren’t for me! If you’re going to get them I’d recommend getting them a few weeks before your wedding and then a fill a couple days before. I know a lot of people are allergic to the glue and leave with their eyes swollen shut so I’d hate for that to happen to you 2 days before your wedding!

Agree do them now to see how you react although I used to get them all the time and the last time I got a really bad eye infection.

Personally I would skip extensions and get a Lash Lift and Tint but do it now to see how it works on you. The lifts and tint lasts 6 weeks so you'll still be good for honeymoon as well. A lift just curls your natural lashes.

Never had them, but agree to try them out at least a few weeks before your wedding. I’ve heard of people being severely allergic to the glue and what a disaster that would be 2 days before!

I am currently trying lash boost serum from rodan and fields- people swear by it and have pretty sweet before and after photos, but I can’t attest to it myself (yet?) 👀

I wouldn't risk it, but that's just me. My MUA does false eyelashes for all of her clients anyway, and I loved how they looked at my trial!

If you’re going to be gone that long without being able to get a fill, id do a lift and tint instead and use falsies for the wedding. I’ve had them. I love them. But at the end of 2 weeks, I NEED a fill.

I’ve had lash extensions done so many times and here’s the thing about that, you have to keep them clean so that won’t start to shed as much and so that it won’t be harmful to your real lashes. LASH EXTENSIONS DO NOT RUIN YOUR REAL LASHES! If done properly and by a professional your real lashes will not be effected ( also if you don’t pluck at them). I don’t think they’re a good idea for your wedding because eyeshadow isn’t the best for them and they kind of get a dusty look with shadow. False lashes are better. For the honeymoon lash extensions are great because you can wake up and just go while still looking put together, they’re perfect for vacation and swimming !

I cleaned mine every single day and also wore a special sealant to keep debris off of them. I still was left with little stubby lashes at the end of a few months 🤷🏼‍♀️

Wow! That’s disappointing sometimes it depends on the artist and what type of lash they’re doing and if it’s a type/ thickness/ length your natural lashes can handle !

I'd try them now just to see. I'm not a huge fan of them. I used to get them regularly (so I'd say for a period of 6 months two separate times). I also got the largest ones, so that may be why I didn't like them? 1, they made my real eyelashes SO SHORT when they fell off and just all together. 2, I was touching them nonstop with the brush because they always flipped and drove me crazy. 3, I was super neurotic about them falling out and went back for fills more frequently since I hate the look of having a good amount be gone. 4, I went to a bad salon once and they literally fell out a week later (so a huge waste of $250).

I am using Babe Lash right now, it's supposed to help my eyelashes grow if I use it for 10 weeks every day, then a few times a week after my desired length is achieved. I'm also looking into lash lift & tints.

I had the same experience. I followed all the required care & maintenance and even splurged for an expensive care kit. My lashes took 6 months to recover.

I've had lash extensions for the past two years every two to three weeks with no issues until just recently. It is unclear at this time if it is related to the pollen and my normal allergies since the spring is coming in rough in my area. However, up until now lash extensions have been wonderful for me. I am not a makeup wearer but the lashes make my face glow. I love them and hope to continue them until after my wedding in October as I do believe a break is now warranted.

I will say that you must choose an experience professional for your install and do your research. Ask questions about the adhesive they use and the types of lashes they offer. My lash stylist can't wear the extensions because she is allergic to all of the adhesives. It's quite ironic. Also, for sure cleaning is a must and knowing how to wear them all adds to the success with eyelash extensions.

My hairstylist has been trying to get me to wear false eyelashes and I shut that down immediately. I'll rock what the good lord gave me.

Wow, I’m so glad I asked!! I was all for it now I’m not going to do it. While it seems like it would be fun and pretty... I don’t think I want to potentially jeopardize my own lashes. Maybe I’ll get some kind of lash growth product and do a lift and stain. That seems so much safer! I’ll wear false ones on our Big Day and then rock a more natural look on our honeymoon. Thank you ladies!!
