DW question about hair and makeup

Kimberley, on January 17, 2017 at 8:50 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7

So I am having a DW and was curious is any other DW brides have trials for hair and makeup a day or 2 before the wedding day. It just occurred to me that I probably won't have much time the 2 days before the wedding to do this because or various group things we have planned. Did or do any of you planning on doing a trial or just winging it and hoping it comes out well the day of?

I'm having a DW in Mexico. The resort has said that I can do a trial for hair and makeup before the wedding, but it's so expensive I feel like it would be a waste of money.

I am going to bring photos of what I would like my hair to look like. I plan to keep it to a simple updo. Hopefully it will go well. If not, I am also planning to bring some extra supplies so I can do my own simple hairstyle. (And practicing how to do it a ton in the weeks leading up to it)

For makeup, I'm just going to tell them to keep it simple and natural looking. I don't usually wear makeup so I'm also planning to go to the makeup counters at Macy's to get some products and a lesson on how to apply them. If I don't like what they've done, I'll wash my face and do it myself.

I'm getting married on a Sunday and my trial is on a Friday. I tried to get it done earlier but my HMUA wasn't available the one time I was in town.

Edit: this is before any group activities begin.

My wedding was kind of a destination wedding, only 4 hours away from where I live. I was going to do my trial the Friday before but wound up having some time to go up a few months before for a trial.

I probably won't do a trial. We are getting married at a resort and they have stylists there who are available. A trial is really expensive though and I feel okay skipping it. We are eloping so if it looks like shit, only FH will see it anyways.

I'm having a DW in JA. My MOH's sister has done professional makeup and is attending the wedding. She offered to do my makeup as a wedding gift. We'll do a trial next month since she lives close by. She will probably help me with my hair too, but since I have a pixie I could probably manage it myself.

I'm having a DW in Maui. I had the chance to do a trial but skipped because I feel confident enough with the make up artist and their work. But a good idea...if your trying out a look that's not normal for you like heavy eyes and lashes or a bold lip- go have it done at Sephora and see if you will even like it on yourself. But to answer your question: yep I'm just winging it.

My DW is just over an hours flight away in London. There's always something I can do in London for a weekend, so my plan is to combine my Hair and Makeup trial with another trip a few month ahead of the wedding. I would be way too nervous to just show up and hope for the best.
