Dress Buying and Alterations

MrsWilliams2Be, on February 6, 2015 at 10:35 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6

So I know what dress I want to purchase but I plan on shedding a few pounds before the wedding. My dress is coming from David's Bridal. Should I wait to purchase the dress after the weight loss or will they allow me to switch the size?

When I ordered my dress they said that as long as they still sold that style of dress and no alterations were done they would let me exchange for the same dress in a different size.

Is it off the rack? Does it have to be ordered? Mine took 5 months to get in (but it wasn't from david's so i don't know how it goes there) and then I had around 10 weeks of alterations.

I ordered my dress from David's at the end of May, and had it at the end of June or early July.

Buy the dress for the body you have, not the body you want to have. In the long run it will be the best decision. EVERY bride plans on shedding a few pounds....it doesn't always happen

My dress took less than a month to get from david's. i wouldn't count on that though. you have some time, you could wait another couple months at least. but i'd definitely look at order within about 3-4 months from your wedding date so you have time for alterations, if needed, and dress delivery.

I got my dress at David's and it came in within 2-3 weeks. Now I have a personal trainer and kind of wish I had waited, because I have a feeling my body is going to change a lot. Oh well, I don't mind paying for alterations, especially to make the dress smaller Smiley smile
