Done with my centerpieces!

Future, on May 20, 2012 at 11:06 AM Posted in Planning 0 13

Finally! These were a pain in the butt to make, but I love them. I was initially planning on putting the oomanders on top of trumpet vases, but saw these dowels and wooden stands at a craft store. We screwed them together then spray painted them bronze. Then I added acrylic crystals (got them cheap from ebay) and voila! Can't wait to see them at the tables Smiley smile

Thanks ladies! I got the stands from a craft store called Pat Catan's. You can also use those decorative wooden sticks they use for stair railings, I'm not sure what they called. The base is just a wooden plate that you can get at Michaels and other craft stores, they're a buck each.

Denise: Yes, I did the pomanders too. I used 6" floral foam balls and silk flowers from Michaels (got the flowers on clearance at 80% off). The acrylic beads I just attached using push pins, the kind used for sewing.

Wow, this is so neat! Where did you get your inspiration and how long did it take you to make all of them?

Do you have any advice on making the pomanders?

I just saw the pomanders online so I made them first. Then I was initially stumped on how to display them. Google images helped a lot, I initially wanted to put them on top of trumpet vases, but then saw this picture of a candleholder with a pomander on top of it. Looked very elegant, and luckily I found these decorative dowels and wooden bases at the craft store.

My only advice on making the pomanders is, you need a lot more flowers than you think you will. I used a big ball, 6", so I needed a lot to cover them Go with big flowers, such as hydrangeas that cover a lot of area. Doing these with roses or smaller flowers would be a pain.
