Diy threshold and altar

Tbear, on October 7, 2018 at 12:08 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 19
Ok so we are planning and prepping a full year in advance, we can enjoy this process of creating not only memories on the day but of the memories created along the way to the altar.
Speaking of altar, WE FINISHED CONSTRUCTION ON THE THRESHOLD (4ft wide walkway) AND THE ALTAR (Thinner doors and smaller “doorway”)
Repurposed doors, finding old 111 year old barn beams, sanding, sanding, more sanding, stain, poly, the hunting for hardware and brackets, splinters, stolen smiles and kisses, stolen glances, more hunting for candle lanterns. (Ok I’ve still got to stain and poly the lanterns, but I DO have a year!)
Full construction. More precious than the gorgeous outcome is sharing time.
We aren’t perfect, but we are an amazing team

This so awesome love the stain color, but I love even more that you did it as a team. That is what marriage is about putting in work together so that you can enjoy the results.

Those are really stunning. Hopefully you are planning to keep them after your wedding? They would look great in a corner of your yard, with some flowers or a little waterfall...

Originally I was going to try to sell them to our venue (farmhouse and barn themed venue), but they came out so well that my fiancé mentioned that he wanted to keep them. He casually mentioned that they’d be great as screening for the hot tub that he wants to get in the future. Hellooooo surprise hot tub!

So after the wedding, I’ll need to TRULY polyurethane the whole thing in 4-5 more coats to protect the wood if it’s gonna be a constant outdoor installation. (I went light coats on the poly for the wedding so that they wouldn’t have too much glare in pictures etc)
