DIY Flowers?

I can let you know in 2 weeks! Planning on doing that. I ordered flowers from Sams club online. 100 mini sunflowers and 80 of the hot assorted Gerber daisies. However I don't plan to use any of the pink ones in wedding...maybe I'll take those to honeymoon suite. Going to purchase some filler flowers like baby's breath and maybe some white, red, or orange roses at a local shop to complete them. Doesn't look to difficult. Bought wire stems (due to types of flowers I picked) and some floral tape and ribbon. Crossing my fingers. Ones left over after bouquets I'm using for centerpieces. Doing them simple.

I have no doubt it saved me money. I think it will cost me around 200-250 total

We are doing the centerpieces ourselves.... just baby's breath and a wine/burgundy flower mixed in for a pop of color.... putting them together two days before the wedding in burlap/lace decorated mason jars.

I helped a friend with hers. We got the flowers at the LA flower market a couple days before and made a night of it. It was fun. She paid about $300 for 15 center pieces and 4 bouquets. I plan on doing the same thing.

We did that for my sister's wedding -all the bouquets, bouts, centerpieces were made up of flowers my mom and aunt grew. It was SO much work putting them together - took 5-6 people 2 full days. Her DOC said based on the type and quality of the flowers and arrangements, a florist in NYC would have charged $8-10,000. But it was so much manpower and hassle, I wouldn't recommend it.

That said, there are ways to incorporate DIY and save money without making a ton of work for yourself. I'm doing a mix - a florist is doing the photo-heavy stuff like bouts and my bouquet. Centerpieces are borrowed non-florals items (candles, vases, some silk flowers, mirror bases etc). And we're DIYing the BM bouquets with grocery-store carnations and roses, which are really hardy and easy to work with. A hand-tied bouquet with those kinds of blooms takes relatively little time to gather, tape together and wrap. We're spending about $700 between the florist, grocery store flower and supplies order and a few non-floral decor items.

I plan on doing a practice run within the next month or so, just to make sure its not too much work. Im thinking abiut just diy'ing the bridesmaid bouquets the night before, then having the centerpieces be made of hardier items, like succulents and air plants on driftwood

I second emilyg. Leave the bouts and bouquets to the professionals. If you want to DIY and save money, put your centerpieces together. That is exactly what we did and I wasnt extra stressed on top of the normal stress.

I'm doing a compromise of professionally made bouquets, bouts, and corsages, but putting together my own centerpieces. I think it's best to take on only one major DIY to avoid stress overload at wedding time.

I bought flowers through bouqs and assembled them two days before the wedding with my MIL and SIL, it was fun and we saved a ton of money. They looked pretty decent but not as good as a florist doing them. I would probably do the same thing again. We spent about $300 for 6 bouquets and 6 boutonnières.

My mom and I did the flowers for my wedding ourselves. I only spent $300 for all of our flowers. About $100 more for supplies and practice flowers. Although, I'm not gonna lie, it was tough and stressful at times, I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. My mom and I had a lot of fun while putting everything together. I ordered from fifty flowers but Sam's Club also sells wholesale flowers. They came in a few days early and require some care (they give you instructions). We made everything the day before my wedding and they were still gorgeous for the day of. Watch tons of tutorials and practice to make sure you can even pull it off. Boutonnieres are hard to make!
