Chest Pains but Not Feeling Stressed

Erika, on April 16, 2019 at 10:42 AM Posted in Planning 0 8

Respectfully, my wedding is 11 days away but I am having chest pains at random moments. I don't feel stressed but could I be internalizing my stress and not realizing it.

Any advice or shared experiences would be much appreciate

Maybe go for a massage? It's hard to know what to do to fix whatever is causing it if you didn't even know you were stressed and I think a good massage could definitely help.

Yeah I may have to do that! I mean there have been a lot of stressful things that has happened (i.e. groomsman dropping out 2 weeks before wedding, family drama, photographer dropped but found a replacement and other things). I have just been trying to move past it but I think it may be catching up.

Go to a doctor. Heart disease is the leading cause of death in women globally. And we as women too often just blow off symptoms as things like stress. Hopefully that is what it is, but please get checked just to make sure.

Many years ago I had an awful anxiety attack for what I thought was no reason. I didn't have anything to worry about, but my heart would start racing out of the blue, or my legs would feel almost like jelly. Sure I was working three jobs - my full-time one and two others - but I was handling that well, or so I thought. While I didn't feel stressed about it, my body sure did!

It's absolutely possible for you to be internalizing your stress. It's probably nothing to worry about, but it wouldn't hurt to see your doctor if you're even a tiny bit concerned. They'll see you and maybe run some in-office tests like an EKG (not a big deal - I've had to have a couple) or they may tell you to come back after the wedding if you still feel that way.

I am monitoring it. The nurses told me to just monitor it if it gets more consistent.

Not too long ago, I was feeling the exact same way. For a few days, I felt my heart racing and felt light headed, felt like I could not catch my breath, etc. I would wake up with chest pains and feeling my left arm numb. Was I scared? Yes, but didn't go to the doctor right away. Finally, I went to see my doctor. She did an EKG and various other tests. At the end, it was stress. Just hearing her tell me that made me feel 100 times better. The worst thing about stress (anxiety) is stressing about being stressed. It's a vicious cycle.

I don't take medicine for it but have found alternative ways to deal with it. I find meditating really helps. At night, I use an app to help me sleep. It's not that I cant sleep (because I was a le to sleep while stressed) but it helps my brain stop stressing while I am asleep. It basically helps me tell my brain "Stop" it's time to sleep.

When I find my self stressing, I remind myself, "Stressing will not help solve the problem so there's no point in doing it".

I always recommend an app called CALM ( use the free version). Try it out. Hope it helps.

Thank you so much! I am downloading now. I am glad to know I’m not alone though.
