2018, on September 11, 2016 at 9:58 PM Posted in Planning 0 26

What did you all do for your unity! I don't want to do a candle or sand because I feel like everyone does that! Thanks!!

Handfasting, water potted plant or tree, salt covenant, unity cross, blessing shells or stones -- there are plenty of options.

    Unity Glass!!!! Unityinglass.com

You pour glass beads into a jar like you would with sand, but then a glass maker blows it into a beautiful vase or sculpture. I love modern, unique glass pieces so this was perfect for us.

We are doing a unity box , we are writing letters to each other and they will be sealed in a box until our 1 year anniversary and then we open the letters and replace them with news ones

We did a wine box! It's similar to the unity box but we put a bottle of wine in our box to open on our one year anniversary. Etsy has some beautiful and personalized boxed too!

We do a lot of glass but our couples do their own 'blowing". The glass is available from Bullseye Glass (usually under 20 bucks), and the workshop to make the object is usually less than 65.00. The unity in glass pieces are gorgeous, but they're pricey.

We are doing something similar to the wine box, except it's called a Letter Ceremony. Basically we have a beautiful box that we will put hand written letters to each other in along with a bottle of wine and two glasses and a few items to remember the wedding and we will open it on our 5th anniversary to read the letters and reminisce about our love for each other and remind each other why we married etc.

That's kind of like saying "we don't want to do vows because everyone does that." A wedding is built on traditions, so I wouldn't discount something just because you've seen other people do it Smiley smile

We're doing a sand ceremony, but with spices, and spices are our favors as well. We're doing it mostly because we want to do something with our hands during the ceremony beyond just stand there and do vows---we wanted to feel a little more actively involved, lol.

I'm doing the fisherman's knot, and I even got nylon dock line to use.

Nothing! I don't particularly like them and I think I'd feel awkward doing one. But I did see some pictures of a couple who make their first Jack and coke!

We are doing a sand ceremony but using an hourglass instead of just random bottles.
