Bridesmaids Gifts

Maressia , on April 11, 2018 at 1:30 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 16
I need ideas on what to give my girls the day of the wedding? Anyone has ideas for me. I want something really nice. I have been thinking bracelets and earrings for the ceremony to go with their dresses but I can't find a bulk of them that aren't too expensive.

Generally jewelry for the wedding isn’t considered a gift it’s a prop for your photos. The best advice I’ve been given is to shop for each one individually like it’s their birthday.

Yeah I was going to do more than jewelry. I just have no idea what to do but that does sound good. Get each one a list and they tell me what they like and I can go buy. That's a good idea. Thank you.

All of us live at the Jersey Shore - we boat and beach all summer long and well into the Fall, I got my girls beautiful large beach/boat bags and am filling them with some things I think each would like.

Don't ask them what they want. It shows you really have no idea what your BM's tastes/interests/hobbies are. These people are supposed to be your nearest and dearest. If you really don't know, ask around to their friends and family.

Don't waste money on cheap jewelry. Tell them now they can wear whatever jewelry they want and use your money wisely, to buy them each one nice gift that has nothing to do with your wedding or your pics.

I asked a friend that has been in 900 weddings and she said she got a monogrammed travel bag that she uses all the time

Not sure if you interpreted it wrong but I was never going to ask them what they want. I know what each of them like and enjoy for the most part. They're like you said the closest to me. I do like the idea of having a sheet to list the things they like and enjoy most because I'm not in their home on q day to day basis so it may actually be some things I don't know. The jewelry was never going to be cheap but I know I'm not going to spend tons of money on it either. The jewelry was going to be in addition to whatever else I got them. Maybe I should reword the original post. Thanks for your insight.

Something individual for each even if you do matching jewelry. Nothing that says “bridesmaid” on it

Let me reword my original post. I was never going to JUST buy jewelry for my pictures. I'm not that selfish or dumb. The jewelry was in addition to anything else I chose to get. My first question is what should I do for them in reference to a gift. I have known each of them either my whole life or over 3 years and I'm just not good at picking gifts like that because I'm always afraid they wont like it. I just need gift idea. I like the idea of them answering certain questions to help me make sure I get them something they REALLY LIKE AND/OR WILL USE. Not them telling me what they want. That's two totally different things in my opinion.

What about a gift card to their favorite restaurant, coffee shop, or spa?

It's really hard for us to make suggestions when we don't know their interests. You don't have to buy them all the same thing.

Take a few minutes to think about their interests. Write them down if necessary. Then get creative. For one who loves hiking- a new day pack. For the gourmet cook- a cooking lesson with a local chef she loves. The shoe queen- a gift card to DSW. These are just ideas.

None of my gifts were the same for my 4 ladies.

Some really lik wine, some really like make up. We did various gift cards, massage certificates, chocolate covered wine bottles, etc.
