Bridesmaid Gifts?? Why are you so complex??

Chelsea, on September 2, 2011 at 5:59 PM Posted in Planning 0 20

Im having a really hard time figuring out my gifts for my bridesmaids. I have 4- and they are all so different from one-another. I was thinking that I could get each one a piece of jewelry that matches their bridesmaid dresses (they will all be wearing a different color but same style; yellow, pink, lime green, and aqua blue). Is that a good idea? OR should I just give each one something that is based off our friendship and their personality? My delima's that I want it to be something that they truly enjoy and fits them, but also something that "unifies" them as my bridesmaids. ---Another problem is I have a low budget of about $200-250 total that I can spend on their gifts....help??

Jewelry sounds good, that's what I'm doing for my BMs. I love them all but I don't want to be stressing out thinking about their gifts. Jewelry is something practical, affordable , and they will have something less to be worried about their outfit.

I bought all five of my girls a heart key necklace that they will wear to the wedding as well. I figured that they didn't have to be too individual or it would be a migraine to figure out. plus i figure that it will mean something to all of them because it is now a part of them, having been in our wedding. they are all the same, so they all are united in that, and our theme is the key to your heart, so they will think of me when they wear it, and i know they will all wear them again.

Thats a good point that it will be something they wont have to stress about for their outfits, and I love the key idea too becuase that sounds like something they can wear again. Thanks!

Dont even get me started on BM gifts. Sure, FH has it easy! Buy the guys some tunics and drinking horns and youre done! My girls?? None of them liked jewelry, only half of them are "girly" one is unpredictable about gift receiving, and another one just wants a tunic and drinking horn like the guys!

I did what most gals on here went for: a day-of survival kit. A tote bag filled with several things like makeup, lotion, face wipes etc. Ontop of that, i bought them pashminas that match their wedding boquets, as well as hand crafting their headpieces and necklaces. I also plan on sending up mango mojitos to the bridal suite to sip on while we get ready!

I was also on a tight budget for my girls and only spent about $35-$45 per girl. I got my girls necklaces (rhinestone edged heart with their initals engraved in the middle), Rhinestone wristlet's (for the wedding day necessities ie: phone & lipgloss) and Love Spell lotion and body splash from Victoria's Secret. They will also have personalized wine glasses waiting for them on the head table. Both my MOH's will also be recieveing a bottle of wine as my Thank you for my Bridal Shower and Bachlorette Party. If anybody is interested, I make hand crafted unique flasks. They are perfect gifts for any wedding party and very reasonably priced. Let me know if any of you girls are interested or want more details.

Chelsea I did the following and I think its an awesome idea: I got brown wicker baskets from Wal Mart for 4 dollars, and filled them with face masks, nail care sets, nail polish, lip gloss, (fake girly nails for my junior bridesmaid) loofas, bath salts, back scratcher, body mist, and lotions. I spent about 45 per basket and I did two. For my MOH I bought her a pair of fresh water cultured pearl earrings.

Ok so the first one is the baskets together, and the second two are a break down of the basket. In the second picture is the basket for my junior BM and it has spa socks, face mask, loofa, nail care set, nail polish remover, makeup bag (brown and blue polka dots) lip gloss, 3 little nail polish bottles, a toe seperator, a little bag with lavender scented body butter, body wash, and bath salt, a case of bath balls that dissolve for aromatherapy, and a set of fake nails.

The third pic has all the same, except for the fake nails, and different colored face mask and spa socks, and different nail polish and lip gloss. The other basket also has mascara, and different scented body butter and body wash.

I've been thinking about getting my BM's gift certificates either to get a mani/pedi or a massage at a spa. Between all them, they have work, college, kids and tight budgets. Buying their dresses on top of helping me put some of this together, I think they'll feel really appreciated when they're relaxing with a fresh coat of nail polish or some cute guy getting the knots out of their backs Smiley winking lol

I think jewelry's great and you can get some good deals/cheap deals if you really look around. Since your wedding is in 2012, I'd say go Black Friday shopping for jewelry.

If I were a bridesmaid, I'd want a nice compact mirror as a gift. I think it just depends on what you think they'll like. If they don't like jewelry or makeup, don't go for that.

I also love the idea of creating a gift basket/bucket/etc for cheap. Target's $1 area would be great for this.

    Justine, those are really cute!

Great ideas, Kathryn, very niceSmiley smile I am going to do pashima wraps (to keep them warm), and I'm hoping to find a deal on a coach wristlets (if I can manage), or get necklaces from Blue Nile for them (they have some cute ones) I'm going to get some flip flops and do little designs on them, and put them in a bag with little things women especially can appreciate (Godiva, lip gloss, etc).

I would pick something that matches their personality. We bought our girls personalized wine or beer glasses based on their tastes - they all like a glass of something once in a while. Smiley smile We didn't feel that the more traditional gifts worked for them. We'd rather get them something they'll use and enjoy.

For my BMs, I'm thinking of a bracelet and hair flowers that they can wear during the wedding.

Thank you everyone!- Definitely the black Friday idea!? I always forget about that because I mostly focus on getting my nephew awesome "from Santa" presents. I guess I just have to wait it out. I'm so excited though- I want to get everything done this week/month! But I have plenty of time Smiley smile

I think it's also nice to do something specific to each girl. Say for example, you have a favorite memory together, or know she loves a certain candy, or loves going to the movies. You can still do the basket idea, but rather than having the same thing for each bridesmaid, give her stuff you know she loves.

It's cheap AND it shows how well you know her. If you don't go that route, my other piece of advice is make sure to at least give her one thing she can use that's NOT related to your wedding... That is my biggest pet peeve! I have 7 girls who are spending time, money, energy on me and then I give them a "gfit" that still revolves around my wedding?! Yeck!!

But that could be just one of my weird quirks Smiley smile
