Bas! And question...

Melissa, on February 3, 2018 at 8:41 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9
Today was my bridal shower! It was absolutely wonderful. It was more of an intimate affair, which was lovely. I had so much more time to go around and socialize with all of my guests. Also my grandmother passed 3 months ago and there was a shower gift from her there, which was astounding because she had been in the hospital unable to communicate since August. So it was so incredibly special and emotional.

Question though. I had 3 guests that didn’t give a card or gift or anything, and it honestly perplexed me because they are 3 close friends. Do I still send them a thank you card?

I would send a thank you for coming to the shower and it was nice to see them.

I believe thank you cards are for gifts only. I would just say to them it was nice to see them there and that you're glad to have spent time with them.

Weren't you the person who had issues with gifts and travelling? Maybe they are having something shipped, or will just give you a larger wedding gift.

Yes that was me! And I had several people that said oh I ordered your gift, and some people just gave gift cards. I’m thinking maybe they were just confused and mailed everything? But I didn’t really get that indicator for them. But my sister advised me to wait like a week or two to see if anything trickles in.

I would send them a note just as you are with everyone else and say "Thank you for coming to my shower! It was so great to see you and I look forward to celebrating with you on the big day!"

Easy, and polite. They still took time out of their lives to attend!

I'd send that note, too, so that is subtly alerts these friends that if they did mail something, you haven't received it.

Glad your shower was enjoyable, though!

Maybe they are just waiting for the actual wedding?

Hmm that is a little odd. I agree with PP to just send a short note. It’s different than the wedding and I think showers are trickier since you aren’t doing all the planning yourself.
