Bam Bam Bammity BAM!

I realized very quickly that whatever happened, I wasn’t going to be able to change it anyway so I needed to chill out and let things happen. We had planned on an unplugged ceremony and as I was walking out, everyone had their phones out. It bothered me for a second, but now I have all of these pictures of the day while I’m waiting on my pro pictures! I also thought I’d somehow avoid all wedding drama and no-shows since the majority of our guests were out of town. I was wrong. We had 5 no shows, 2 of which I knew about prior to the wedding day, but all 5 were local guests. One of them was the wife of a groomsman, which I felt extremely guilty for, but they said they didn’t realize they couldn’t bring their 6 month old, despite it being on our invites, website, and having a conversation in person about it. We stood firm and told them they needed to make arrangements which ended in her staying home. We had declines because some couldn’t make the trip without their kids and we also had a couple that left their 3 month old on the east coast and we couldn’t tell them yes, when others had already made arrangements or declined.

Four bits of advice. If you have a chance, make sure you spend some time with your new spouse before the rest of the evening gets started. I wanted to go participate in cocktail hour, cause I was hungry and wanted something to drink. Instead we stayed in the bridal suite, and enjoyed 10 minutes of “us” time before the reception got in full swing. Second piece of advice, if someone offers to do something, take them up on it. I had two people offer to make me a plate of food (we had apps instead of a sit down meal) and I didn’t take them up on it. What I got to eat was good, but I missed a lot of the protein apps and wish I had ate an entire plate like my guests were able to do. Third, think of what your guests would like, and do what you can to make it happen. I wanted to make sure everything was worth their time and effort as our wedding was mostly destination so we were able to do a welcome reception and morning after brunch. I had multiple guests thank me for putting so much thought and effort into the weekend and for planning so much to do. Lastly, trust your vendors. Mine were amazing. I had complete confidence in them because I did my research, met with them, and they're pros!

My bridesmaid with me in my rented dress. She offered to help me out of my dress and we ran giggling down to the bridal suite. I hadn't planned on switching dresses, but I only spend the last hour in the short dress so I got to wear my dress for most of the night!

@Natalie, we did eggplant, but it does look blue in the photos. His mom got a blue dress as I told the moms I didn't care what color they did.
