Anyone plan a DW in Jamaica...would love some insight

Collette, on June 3, 2017 at 1:30 AM Posted in Planning 0 1

I am new to this site and have been trying to scour the forum about this topic but have had no luck. Anyways, this is a second marriage for both me and my FH. We both had a JP wedding our first go round and we are both wanting something very different and special. We were thinking of having a waterfall wedding and I wanted a band playing steel drums in the background. Depending on how expensive it is we may have to change gears and do a beach wedding. So my question is: ballpark figure how much is a DW in Jamaica? Did anyone do a waterfall wedding, if not a beach wedding and what time of year? I was hoping for June 8, 2018 but from what I understand that is part of their hurricane seasonSmiley sad Any other info on how to coordinate a DW in Jamaica would be helpful as well as I have never done this before would be highly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I am doing a DW in Montego Bay next April. We are doing it on the beach, but at a resort. I'm sure you could find someone in Jamaica to help with setting up a ceremony by a waterfall. I'm not sure if a resort could help you or contacting an event planner in Jamaica would be better. Our wedding package is $4k for ceremony, officiant, wedding license, cocktail hour, full bar and 3 hour reception for 20 people. It is $92 per person over the 20 person limit. The issue is all the "extras" cost an arm

and a leg. Example: a DJ for 3 hours is about $1,300. Extra flowers and table decor can be anywhere from $200 a centerpiece to $750. The resort charges a $500 vendor fee if you don't use the vendors they recommend. Their photographer they use charges for one hour $1,200. So the wedding itself is reasonable, all the extras are killing us though. Our resort is all inclusive and the rates we secured for our room block are a good price. I am working with Deborah from Beach Bum Vacations and she is amazing. I suggest getting in touch with a Travis concierge to help you plan! Good luck!
