Alterations

Kansas , on February 7, 2018 at 5:32 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8
I have a question, hopefully some of you have examples from woman.
I have my dress, of course I'll need alterations. I have been going to the gym and will continue working on losing weight till the wedding which is June.
I may not slim down immediately due to weight training but than I'll be slimming, so should I do alterations towards may or do it April and get someone willing to do it like the week before? And is that very costly?

Alterations are tough work! My dress is lace, and to do alterations they will pull off all of the lace by hand and then have to reattach it so you can't see any darts and it looks the same, just for me better. I went to my first fitting last Saturday and have my second late March, with a third in April probably.

I would not wait till the last minute...I wouldn't even be comfortable with having them rush it knowing the amount off detail they put into it.

I would call around to seamstresses now and find out when they would need to begin. This is not something that can be left until the week before.

Our wedding is the weekend before Easter and i just had my first alternations appt. With the second one coming up on the 11th. The woman doing mine suggested a time line for it so she had enough time to make sure it was correct. Im having a corset put in the back eliminating the need for the zipper. She is letting out all the seams that were pleated i hate pleats the is going to remove the small train it has and then shorten the dress so that when my shoes are off it will just barely hit the floor eliminating the need for a bustle. Im paying 300 for all of it.

It really depends on your dress style and how much work you need done. I wouldn’t wait past April

Ok thanks. I'll start looking for someone for April. Davids bridal told me $190 due to lace but only once.im hoping to find someone to make changes a week or 2 before the wedding day as well as initial time without a whole new charge

You should have multiple fittings with your seamstress to make sure everything fits and looks the way you want it. If anything needs to be fixed, they will catch it then.

Do you already know what you need? Initial fittings should be 8 weeks out, then i believe you go again for a final 2 weeks before. It all depends how much alterations you actually need.

Ok. I know it doesn't need to be hemmed but lace and the rest from waist up has to be done. If they check again 2 weeks before, that works, because I just don't want to get alterations in April to find out on wedding day I lost another 8-10 lbs because I'm working out so much, and in my experience the beginning of working out I gain muscle weight but 2-3 months later I start dropping weight fast.
