Advice & motivation on losing weight/inches

Meg, on July 6, 2018 at 12:31 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 3

I have some impulse control issues to get over!

I lost 25 pounds from January 2017-March 2018, from ~215 lbs. to 186 lbs. Realizing now that's more like 30 pounds lol.

Anyway, I'm back up to 190 and plateaued. I know I haven't been eating the best and I've been taking breaks from the gym. This week, I started the Couch to 5K app with the goal of doing a 5K next spring. I have fewer than 6 months until my wedding, and our honeymoon is just over a month after that!

I've always identified as thin (graduated high school at 140 lbs. and 5'10") so this extra weight has got me down. I would love to keep the muscle mass I have while losing fat/inches. My goal is ~16-18% body fat and ~150-160 lbs.

Has anyone accomplished this/in the process?

That is amazing! You are definitely on the right track. Have you tried the military diet? Its 3 days and its not too terrible. You are fasting kind of during those 3 days, but since it sounds like you are already work out and eat healthy, any weight you lose shouldnt come back. It might help get off that plateau, it does for me. Also if you have a trainer, even once a week, they can be amazing. I lost 50 pounds about 7 years ago and have kept it off by little tricks like that. But i had initially done the hcg diet, which i don't recommend, the 2nd time i did that, I gained weight. Then i just went to the gym, got a trainer for once a week and ran, I run 2 minutes, walk 1 minute, for about 30 minutes 5-6 times a week. That is what i do now and it helps keep the weight off best. I have horrible family genes.

HI Meg! Wow 30 pounds..that's incredible! I have a similar body to yours, I'm 5'9" and weigh around 155. I struggled with the same issue of wanting to be muscular but also wanting to lose those extra pounds. The best advice I've ever received was from my sister who is a huge health nut, she told me to try to incorporate HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) into my workouts 3 times a week. It's a great way to get your heart rate up and build muscle! it has worked wonders on my body and I"m starting to feel comfortable again in my own skin. I highly recommend looking into it and just keep doing what you're doing, you are crushing it!! Smiley smile
