Addressing Invites

Amanda, on October 29, 2017 at 5:36 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 13

Besides hand writing names/addresses on the invites, what are some other options?

I've seen some companies offer printed envelopes. I also have seen some people hire someone to go hand written calligraphy on them.

I think it was about $1 per envelope, for our invitation company to print our return address, in the upper left corner, and the mailing address in the middle. They used a fancier font, but not too fancy that the post office machines couldn't read it.

We had a relative volunteer to do our escort cards in calligraphy, and they were hard to read.

We printed them ourselves using our printer. Not hard if you know how to work a printer and how to size the documents you are printing appropriately for the envelope. Corelle draw even takes the list and makes them all into envelopes for you so you don't have to individually type each one out.

I have a Silhouette Cameo 3 and bought a universal pen holder, so I was able to have mine "written" but using a typed calligraphy font.

Our invitations vendor (local person) is doing printed calligraphy on ours. Maybe that's an option?

We printed the addresses on clear address labels. You can download the template to make sure they line up right. We used a script-type font to make it a little fancy. I did still hand write the names on the inner envelopes.

We are using American Wedding and originally we were going to have them address our envelopes for an additional fee but I changed my mind and am now going with a Calligrapher

Do you know anyone with really beautiful handwriting? Maybe they would like to do it

I ordered return address labels from Vistaprint, and I'll be printing the outer envelope addresses on clear labels. I hand wrote the addresses on our postcard STDs (I have nice cursive handwriting) and I might do something similar for the inner/RSVP envelopes.

BasicInvite is free to include addresses and return address. I really liked the ones on there because they were fully customizeable. Most companies I looked at your couldn't change the colors on the invites, but on BasicInvite you can.

We used address labels. I've seen people say they're tacky but no fucks given.

I had carpal tunnel when we addressed our invitations, and having them addressed by the invitation company or done by a professional calligrapher was just not in our budget. I downloaded a beautiful calligraphy font, we bought a new printer that we needed anyway, and we created a custom template for the envelope size and printed them ourselves. They looked great, IMO, and we saved a ton of money. People throw the envelopes in the trash usually within 10 minutes and I didn't feel bad not doing something fancier. For the return address, we ordered a custom stamp (got it on sale for like $10).
