2 hour open bar

Olivia, on May 18, 2018 at 8:24 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 20
Hello my fellow brides!, I have a question for all of you who may be having a non traditional wedding like me and my fiance. At our venue we have 2 hour open bar ; would anyone know if the bartendars I.D. ? I've heard they don't and I have heard they do. I am only asking because I want to know if its worth bringing my little clutch with my I.D. and money will be.

I don't think they will ID the bride, you should be good as long as you are 21.

I don't think ours asked for IDs, but they knew ahead of time that everyone except for the two children at the wedding everyone we were inviting was over 21. I don't think I've ever been carded at a wedding now that I think about it.

I have been id'd at a wedding. Ask your venue so you can be sure and let your guests know.

In that you will be the one in the white gown, I doubt they will card you.
I do want to say that I constantly read on here that if you hire a professional bartender they will carry legal liability and thus have insurance and will be responsible and cut people off if necessary. Wedding bartenders are the worst about that! Mostly because their employers (us) want them to be. I have a bartender friend who took event jobs but stopped because of complaints he got about carding people and cutting people off. Tell your bartender that you want them to encourage responsible drinking and cut people off if necessary.

Eh, im not too worried. Everything about our wedding is non traditional. Im not wearing a white gown; its blush pink. Im pretty sure my venue has a cut off point and there arent many drinkers in my fiance's family, but thank you for your thoughts

They have the right to, so just be prepared. I wouldn't be anywhere without access to my ID because anything can happen.

I would check with venue or bartender company ahead of time if you need to show ID but I wouldn't think it was needed. You're the bride!

Hi Olivia! I recommend confirming this with the bartender ahead of time just to be certain!

We had asked our venue about this. They won’t ID going into the venue but they will ID you at the bar if you look younger than 21.

My venue will ID someone if they look like they may not be 21.

I would bring it just in case! I have been to one wedding when I was IDed, I was 21. Since then, no. But it's never bad to have. I also like to bring $5 for a tip for the bartender.

The should ID. They can still get in trouble for serving someone underage you cannot ask a bartender to not card.

I would assume they will ID all guests. If you are/your fiance are over 21 I don't understand what the concern is, you would just show your ID and be served. It is a good idea to have ID on you at all times since you never know what may happen.

Are you trying to find out if your bartender will serve underage guests? That would be a big no no and any professional will not agree to it.
