Disclaimer/ explanation on early-ish rsvp follow-up?

E-CO, on May 25, 2016 at 12:57 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 10

We asked for our RSVP's back 6 weeks before the wedding. I didn't realize that was early until reading posts on WW. Based on the extremely rural venue, the caterer does need the numbers that far out to work with her vendors. Also, my mom is making pottery centerpieces for every table and that takes time. In my follow-up contacts, do I need to justify the need for responses earlier than people might be used to? I just don't want anyone thinking I have a B-list, which I do not. Thanks!

No no need to send justification. I asked for them 6 weeks early too. I don't ever think of the rsvp date when I send back an RSVP. You're good.

I requested RSVP 6 weeks out too. My rental vendor (chairs for ceremony) has to know 4 weeks out so that gives me 2 weeks to call those who didn't RSVP.

I am doing the same, asking them for 6 weeks even though my vendor needs final number 5 days beforehand. I need my time to organize and chase people down.

I gave myself 8 weeks honestly. But i'm glad I did because people who did RSVP are now calling me to change it.

I doing 6 weeks as well and I am having a very laid back reception. I just want to have time to make sure I have enough to decorate all of the tables. I need to know how many people so I know how many tables. Also I am a big organizer and preparer, so it will just make me feel better. I sent save the dates, so everyone should have an idea of if they can come or not by that time.

I did nearly 5-6 weeks also because I'm giving myself another 1-2 weeks to chase down those who didn't RSVP.

I'm also doing 6 weeks out. We're actually sending out invites out next month because our reception venue ends the discount for the room block 2 months out, so I want to give people plenty of time to reserve and I explained it on one of our invite inserts.

In the same boat with a 6 week to event rsvp date. And what is with hotels and the 2 month deadline. We know our location is popular in the fall, but damn...
