Disappointed with quantity of wedding pics give by photographer

Sher Bear, on November 18, 2014 at 7:47 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 14

Please let me know approx how many pro pics you received for your wedding.

I only received 300 photos for 6 hours of coverage. I love the quality of most, but some just miss the mark (like as I am walking into the ceremony, there are no pics of me actually looking up) Did he really only take a few pictures? From the numbering on the preview pics it seams as if he took at least 1000 to 1200 pics between him and his wife.

Please help! I have requested more pics, he doesn't even have to edit them, but crickets on his end.

Most packages state how many photos, at max, you can expect. but i've also noticed most brides look down for most of their walk, or only look up in glances then look down, out of nerves or fear of falling etc. i would continue to ask for more, especially if certain moments are missing.

I don't think it's really quantity; I watch photographers every week 'click and pray", shooting multiple shots of everything, hoping something will work out. The quality and coverage is what matters.

300 photos for six hours is almost a photo a minute, assuming something happens every minute, which it doesn't.

Most of the photographers I know won't give you every photo because they're not all good. Did you get photos you like?

Thank you AndixLyn, I looked over the contract and it did not specify, but verbally he said "the Pictures" I guess I assumed that meant all....learned a harsh lesson I think.

I will keep asking as there are very few pics of my guests, only two pics from the getting ready, no pics of my daughter walking in as a bridesmaid, and literally no pics of my guests dancing!

Celia, I did get a lot of photos that I like, I would say over 200 that were really good!

I just feel that moments were truly missed, but you are right, they are shooting moving targets!

Not all photos will be good shots - many of them you really won't want - and most photographers do NOT provide you with the unedited shots, so don't expect him to give you those.

Your contract should state the minimum number of edited photos you will receive for your package.

I received about 800 edited photos. That was for 10 hours of coverage with 2 photographers.

ETA - just saw that your contract didn't state a number. In that case, you don't have much recourse for getting more but if you point out the specific moments that are missing, I would hope that photographer would look to see if he captured those moments and send the photos to you.

If he missed things, he missed things, and that warrants a discussion for sure!

Are you sure that you did look up? If it's more than things like this, then I'd have a chat about it. I think 300 edited photos is plenty, but if they missed something on your "must have" list, that's a big concern.

My photog team (husband and wife) will send us 700 pics for 9 hours (that's taking out the crap pics, blinking, double chins, etc)...you definitely need to see what's up...

Too late to say a shot list should have been provided. Hopefully the photographer may have some raw images that you can get your hands on. A lot of the gaps in image numbers could be from switching lenses, and doing other adjustments though.

When FH's sister got married, they ended up getting all dressed up again a couple weeks later, to get more wedding pictures.

We got 700 for about 8 hours of coverage.

I'd say about 650 of ours are good quality, and since we had two shooters there are a lot of the "same" photos of different angles of important moments (vows, walking down the aisle etc)

Then we have about 50 pics that aren't the best quality in terms of - I wouldn't hang them on the wall, but they are moments I would have liked captured even if the photo didn't turn out 100% (lighting went super awry during our bridal party dance so the pics weren't great quality but they gave them to us anyways so we atleast have them!)

I'd ask your photog if he has any pics of those moments you're missing or looking for, and see if he's willing to give them just for the sake of having them for your own momento, even if they're not perfect quality.

If that's not possible, start asking friends and family to send you all the photos they took to see if they can help fill in those gaps for you.

Wow great advice everyone thank you so much. I think a detailed list of moments to the photographer would be the way to go. My contact so far has been "an in general " type of inquiry. i have asked friends and family and I got about 15 good candids so that was great and thank goodness a friend took it upon herself to video the ceremony, I owe her big!! She said she regretted not having one of her wedding.

I got 960 retouched photos for 8 hours of coverage. I would say I have about 100 that I really love and would choose from for use in our home. My photographer said she takes about 300 an hour and then edits that down to a more manageable amount.

If you have 300 great photos that is wonderful. Remember you're only going to display a few.

Looked at the photos, received 448 this time I would say 100 or so new photos. Some are very good, some are more of the same shots that I had before. About 3 more photos of my guests is all, 5 more dancing photos of me and guests. If we can learn from this ask your photographer specifically to take pics of your guests, I only got about half of them in pics
