Directions

marie, on March 7, 2017 at 7:42 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 18

My fiancé and I already organized the wedding invitations but I haven't officially sealed the envelopes due to going back and forth whether to include directions? My MOH she is married and said if address is on the invite that they can figure it out to today's technology. On the other hand I don't know how to even abbreviate directions. google map and mapquest gives you detailed directions and nothing abbreviated to be able to print and include with invitations. Any advice on how to do them?? Or not do it since address is on invitation.

If you are having a website, you can include the map on your website.

I don't think you need them at all! People will put the address in Google maps or their navigation system! Unless your wedding is in an area without any cell service whatsoever !

I agree with the comments above. The guests should be able to input the address into some sort of navigation to get them to the right place Smiley smile

I wouldn't worry about it. I told my grandparents that I would email them directions closer to the time, and they proudly told me that they had already googled and printed them out.

Just make sure that your venue is identifiable on google maps. I am sure it will be fine!

Before you omit map, google your location, or mapquest. See how clear the approach looks to you. You can always mail directions later to any elderly people.

Personally, I believe you should include full directions if your event requires specific details. If your venue requires a gate code or the ceremony and reception are near each other and you need to let them know how to easily navigate between the two. For us, our ceremony will be at the park overlook behind the reception hall. Other than that, just use the address only and let them GPS the location.

It depends on where you're located. If GPS is reliable, there's no need. We included directions as an enclosure because GPS and cell service can be spotty and cut out, so we didn't want anyone to get lost!

Directions aren't needed. People will google it and if there is someone specific you are concerned about then maybe call them and give them directions

I work with suppliers at work all day and I am always surprised when someone needs handwritten directions to a lunch restaurant but it does happen. That being said, not everyone uses googlemaps. I would say either put the directions in the website or in the invite. They should be written somewhere

Maybe just include a map with parking directions for your venues if they may be confusing?

I didn't include directions or a map anywhere in my invitations or on my website. Unless there is something tricky like a specific entrance or google maps pulling up the wrong address then you should be fine!

I didn't include directions. I included the address. On our wedding website, we embedded a Google Map centered on the venue, and provided gate access info. (Venue is a gated community.)

I put some simple directions on the website, like where to park and such. But not in the invitations. One of my cousins actually printed out directions from the church to the reception and her ushers hand them out after the ceremony.

We have a direction card because our ceremony site is in a park and difficult to find without knowing where you're going.
