Dipping Dots

Angel, on July 6, 2018 at 8:47 PM Posted in Planning 0 41

Has anyone had or heard of anyone having dipping dots at their wedding? From their online prices it seems reasonable and it comes with cups and spoons. The only thing I worry about is the dry ice. It says that you can't store them in a normal fridge. I think it would be a fun extra thing to do! It comes in a reusable cooler. I am wondering if anyone knows anything about dry ice. I am assuming I will have to buy more locally to keep the dipping dots cold. Unsure of how long the ice stays good for, exc. Is this a bad idea?? LOL

I love the idea! That would be awesome. Can you get someone, like with dipping dots, to come and serve it? Like a dipping dogs vendor haha

There is a hotel near me that sells them.. I dont think they "vend it" but it is $50.00 for 30 servings with their dishes and spoons included. It is actually pretty affordable! The only thing I worry about is the obvious dry ice issue but from reading online the dry ice it comes with may be enough if I have it delivered the day before?

I KNOW! A gas station by my house just started selling them and I looked it up online if you can buy it in bulk and I can! It would be $168.00 with shipping to serve 90 people, and it comes with spoons and dishes.

This is funny! One guest told me a few years ago that she was promised Dippin Dots at FHs bar mitzvah and was given sushi instead 😂 so she said whenever we got married, that she wanted Dippin Dots. So FH and I are gonna surprise her and get her Dippin Dots ☺ its just one so we will just put it in the fridge with everything else.
Now can you get them around the time youll get married? I think itd be physically hard to store hundreds of Dippin Dots ahead of time!

That sounds awesome! I have not attended a wedding with dippin dots, but I wouldn't imagine it'd be difficult to keep cold I wouldn't imagine. Aren't they cooled by dry ice? You can get blocks of dry ice easily from a local home improvement store. Happy planning!

Dry ice isn’t that expensive so I’d definitley buy more to be on the safe side. Some gas stations and grocery stories sell it. Try to get it in pellets though. I used to have to buy it in a block and kind of hammer it to use it. The biggest thing is to wear gloves (like the cheap winter gloves that are cottony) and use tongs to pick it up so you don’t get burned from it. And just keep it in a styrofoam cooler. I’m not an expert but I used to use it for science experiments when I was teaching, so I hope that helps a little!

As for how long it lasts, it just depends on how much of it there is and how well it’s packed.

That is funny! I dont want to end up with slushies for sure! And YES! You can order them on dippingdots.com in bulk (30 servings for $50.00 and shipping is 9.99) You can pick the day you want it shipped. It comes in a cooler with everything you need! It comes in a "freezer cooler"

There is a ice company that sells it near me! I know they say it goes down like 5-10 lbs in 24 hours. So I would probably need to refill it as soon as it gets to my house? I know it says 2 day shipping. And good advice with the gloves! I have heard it can be dangerous if you don't wear any. I have zero experience with it.

I haven't either! And yes they are cooled with dry ice. It is more affordable than you might think! Honestly cheaper than cake at $1.66 for a big dish serving of it.
