WOW! I can't believe how expensive some of these are! I am in Michigan and my reception is at a country club. We are doing a plated dinner and the average price is $25 per plate. That does not include the price of the open bar, just the salads, rolls and dinner.

Our meal is $28 pp, but when you add in cake, champagne toast, bar, cocktail hour apps, etc it's more like $68 pp

I'm on Long Island, NY. Mine is about $90pp including tax and tip. We have a cocktail hour, 3 course menu, open bar and wedding cake. The cocktail hour is very extensive with food stations and ice sculptures. The reception is 4 hours, white glove service and the guest can ask for seconds. Most of the reception halls on LI was between $75-$150 but it depends on the day and time you choose to get married.

It depends on how good your food is, what exactly is included and whether you're doing a plated dinner or buffet. Ours was around $75 per person (plated dinner, awesome food, plus a one-hour open bar and cake).

That's kind of like asking how much you should expect to pay for dinner in a restaurant. There is a huge disparity based on whether the restaurant is McDonald's or the gourmet restaurant that takes 6 months just to give you a reservation.

If you want a rough idea, look at restaurant prices in your area for food comparable to what you'd want to serve.

We're paying $17.95 per person (slightly less for kids under 10).

This doesn't include the room rental or alcohol. Everything else is included, linens, cake cutting, bar tenders, etc.

Right now I am paying about 30 dollars per person, but that includes a buffet, with two entrees 1 side 1 salad and 1 pasta dish plus rolls and a fruit and veggie display, this also includes a hot chocolate bar and a drink station, and bartender. we are supplying beer and wine and haven't gotten the total for that yet but we will add that to the 30 dollar price when we figure it out
