Dinner music

Shelly, on November 9, 2020 at 6:47 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 12
What do you plan on playing during dinner? We will have a DJ and a plated meal. On our sheet he asked us to fill out it has a section for dinner music style/preference. I assume dinner music is more background and not party music so people can talk. Do you think he is asking for a genre? What are y’all playing?

Our DJ asked us this too because some people have a specific genre in mind. We told him we didn't really care, as long as it was appropriate. I honestly couldn't tell you what he played. I know he played something, and it was perfect background music because I don't remember it sticking out in any way lol.

I'm not having a reception. We plan to have a small picnic outside.

During dinner, we had an electric violinist walking around playing r&b, hip hop, and top 40 hits. So basically everything from Drake to Tupac to Bieber. Lol

I can’t tell you what was played. I think it was popular older tunes. Definitely not party dance music; although, my family starting dancing as soon as they were done eating! So what ever it was was fun.
It was not turned up loud

Our DJ said that he would do older 80s classic rock normally because it seems to be something everyone likes while not being get the party started crazy dancing music (well, not all of it at least). I am also into older 50s-60s country so we are going to have some of that playing during dinner as well. Mostly it’s just enjoyable background music, so don’t stress about it too much!

Some people play older genres such as Frank Sinatra, Etta James, etc or film soundtracks that aren't danceable

Our DJ took part of our list of music we liked, and then filled it out with similar music that we might not have heard.

There's a lot of great wedding dinner playlists on Spotify and such services. Take a listen and see if any genre strikes your fancy.

We'll probably play slower, classic country songs. We live in the south, so our older crowd will want to hear those oldies, and since they aren't the best for setting the mood on the dance floor, playing them during dinner is perfect!

We played slower and calm country music. I think blues would also bee a good choice.
