Dinner Music?

Terra, on January 7, 2020 at 9:00 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 8

Hey all. Since New Years started and I realized the wedding is *this year* my head has been bouncing all over the place. Right now it's settled on music so I've spent the last few days getting everything together for the ceremony and finding more songs for the reception playlist.

Should I make a separate playlist of songs to play during supper? If I don't, is it awkward for everyone to sit around without background music? Or is making one just adding an unnecessary task to my plate? I think this would be a good opportunity to slide in any not-very-dance-y songs we'd like to play but I'm not sure how well it would flow into the rest of the evening, especially since we are foregoing a cocktail hour.

Yes, I would def make a playlist for background music at dinner. It will add ambiance and elevate the experience. It will help with those who may not have talkative tables to not just be sitting in silence and while people are eating, and not talking so much.

Our DJ had a suggested dinner music list that we could edit. But we are also in the process of creating ours too! Best of luck!

Most good DJ’s will know what to play for dinner music and have a list. I would ask then to help with this

Yes, our DJ is going to put together a playlist, with some help from us. We are going to play mostly crooner music during that time. Classic and romantic.

Your DJ will know what to play during dinner. I wouldn't worry about coming up with a list for him/her.

Our DJ will be playing background music during dinner. Originally we weren't going to have any but I'm so glad we are because like PPs have said, it can really help with the awkwardness at certain tables.

As much as we're trying to pair like-personalities together at tables, it's not guaranteed that it'll work and there may be some silence at tables Smiley smile At least if there's music they're not sitting in total silence haha.

Right, there's only so much a good seating plan can do!

Forgot to mention that we're going DJ-less. Unfortunately, there just wasn't room in the budget but that's why I'm starting this now lol.
