Dinner Music

Sara, on April 16, 2021 at 2:17 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 5

What is everyone's plans for dinner music? Are you having your band or DJ play anything while your guests eat and chat? I'm having a DJ and trying to decide if I want him to play soft piano/jazz music but can't tell if that would be disruptive to guests or not.....

As long as it's not super loud, it won't be disruptive.

Agreed with PP - the volume is really the main concern there. During our cocktail hour and reception (before dancing) we're having theme and epic music from movies and video games playing. Examples: Pink Panther theme, Back to the Future theme, Dragon Age Inquisition theme, an orchestral version of the Vampire Killer Suite from Castlevania, etc. Having background music is always nice and fills up the "empty air space". If there's no music, I often feel like I shouldn't be talking to those around me because something important is probably about to happen. Soft piano or jazz music sounds like a great idea!

Yes, we’re having different music for cocktail hour but for dinner we’re having a full playlist. Your band or dj will know yo not blast ppl out during dinner. We’re doing some Italian opera music, phantom of the opera songs, and a few other songs by Billie holiday, and towards the end french jazz and a few others etc.

its a personal choice but I always think dinner music is essential and a MUST. We have 3 courses. My DJ said an average salad course lasts about 20 minutes so for the salads we will have instrumental Disney music!

We will have our DJ play jazz music and some requested songs. Many DJs do the music for the dinner portion of weddings and should be able to gauge the appropriate volume so it's just background music and not disruptive.
