Dinner before Ceremony

sarah, on October 11, 2017 at 12:36 PM Posted in Planning 0 3

My Fiancee and I really want to have a sunset wedding. We have a beach booked for the ceremony & we get the beach for the whole day. However, sunset in Petoskey, MI in June is 9:22pm & our dinner location is only open until 10:30pm.. We are only having 30 of our closest friends & family & the beach for the ceremony is on the property of the hotel we are staying at. has anyone held dinner before the ceremony? if so anything to keep in mind while trying to plan it this way? alternative ideas are also welcomed.

I suppose you could do all of the ceremony things before the actual ceremony and then have it be the last event of the night? It's a little unorthodox, but if its such a small group and everyone is alright with it I dont see why it would hurt

That may be a bit weird to enjoy the event and then break for a ceremony around that time. With it being late into the evening (regardless of whether dinner occurred or not) some people may not be in the space to sit through a ceremony. But you know your crowd better so ask some VIPs and get their opinions on it.

You'd still get gorgeous photos during that time regardless.

If photos are the reason, have your photographer pull you out of the reception around sunset to get a few. Ours did that for us and it was great - we were more relaxed after some dinner and dancing than we were for the formal post-ceremony photos, and it made for some really special moments.
