Differentiating the Bridesmaids

Paige, on July 7, 2017 at 11:36 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 15

I'm looking to have my two MOH stand out slightly from my four bridesmaids, but am torn on whether to change their dress color or style, or both. I was planning to have the bridesmaids in burgundy & potentially have the MOH in blush. Would having these two different colors AND letting each attendant choose their dress style be too much differentiation? I want to make sure our bridal party looks somewhat cohesive, but also don't want to force specific styles on them. Any thoughts would be appreciated! Smiley smile

If you want them all to wear the same dress awesome if you want them to wear the same color but different styles awesome if you want them if you want them to wear the same style with a different color awesome. But only you can decide that. But you have to think how you want them to stand at the alter with you in the dresses with you

Are the bridesmaids all wearing the same style? Because if they are I think having a different color and style for MOH might be too much difference. I think I would pick one or the other. But if everyone is wearing a different style then both will be fine

I would either do all the same style with the MOH in diff color or all same color with the MOH in a slightly different style. Maybe change to a one shoulder from 2 straps or a one shoulder to strapless?

I would honestly put the MOHS in the burgundy and then the others in the blush. I would also have them wear all the same length.

I think having your MOH in a different color is fine as long as everyone has a similar style dress. A different style AND different color may be too much.

My 4 BM's are wearing one color and my MOH is wearing another. They are wearing the same dress but it's the versa from David's Bridal so it still allows them to wear it however they are comfortable with. My MOH will look different but still be the same. Plus her dress will match the Best Man and the BM's will match the GM's. They all look the same but different.

I think that will be fine. Agreed with PPs that if it's a similar style and length, it should be fine.

I gave my MOH the option to do a complimenting color, but she chose the same color as the other two BM. I ended up buying her an smancy hair comb to wear. She was thinking of wearing a jeweled belt too, but ended up not doing it because it didn't work with her dress. You could also try different bouquets.

As long as the dresses are similar styles it will look good. Don't have anyone too crazy different and you'll be fine! obviously you aren't having this much difference but it looks good!

I gave my MOH a rose-shaped clip (that matched the color of my blush dress) to wear in her hair. She stood out very subtly.

All of my girls are wearing long blush chiffon dresses. My MOH stands out by having beading at the top of her dress.

I don't think it's necessary to point out your maid of honor looking different. It might almost look like she is the most important of your bridesmaids and I think it would cause some hurt feelings. Like she's more important

I'm using a single rose for my bridesmaids and my two maids of honor are going to have double roses. You could differentiate by bouquet maybe ? Or you could not differentiate at all.

I think if they wear the same or similar dresses it would be fine but if you're worried about them being too different for your taste, maybe get them different bouquets instead?

Why do you have to differentiate at all?
