Different ways to RSVP?

Ana, on June 21, 2017 at 10:41 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 28

Are you giving your guests different ways to RSVP or are you just doing the RSVP card w/postage?

I am trying to decide on whether I should give my guests more than one way to RSVP.

I did both. Almost everyone sent back the card. It was nice getting them in the mail, tbh.

I much prefer rsvping online, takes 10 seconds on my phone and I don't even have to move. The only things I send through the mail anymore are taxes and, if I have to, paper rsvps

I sent RSVP cards, but also provided my guest with an option to do it via our wedding website. Most sent back the card.

We sent RSVP cards with options to mail, email or just call/text us. We had 30% mail, everyone else was email, text, call

@gymrat That would be nice. I'm just worried the younger guests won't even bother lol.

@jenny Same!!! & thanks for always responding to my posts lol!

    @aleigh that's a good idea!

I sent RSVP cards with stamped return envelopes and also gave the option to RSVP online. The majority of my guests have sent back the card. Surprisingly, a lot of our older aunts/uncles chose to RSVP online while our friends sent back the card via snail mail.

Online, through our wedding website's RSVP function. We heard from all but one couple 10 days before our due date. My then 87 year old grandmother was able to figure it out.

Online! Using a wedding website through the knot. Seems to be much easier for guests than mailing it back... I already have 40+ RSVPs and just sent the invites out last week.

We had an RSVP spot on our wedding website but also sent out stamped RSVP cards with the formal invitations. The website was a nice way to get an early idea of a head count since we made ours earlier than sending out the invites.

We also unintentionally had people RSVP on Facebook when we made a group event for the wedding just in case we needed to contact everyone at once. I found it to be kinda funny how people were much quicker to say yes on Facebook than either of the two original options!

Good luck and happy planning! Smiley smile

I prefer paper RSVPS. I mean, is it really that hard to walk to the mailbox and put up the little flag? I like the "formality" of it.

Hmmm... @duchess only had 30% mail the cards back. I did online research, almost 5 years ago, and the return rate was less than 50%.

We only had to follow-up with 2 guests, of 250 invited; in fact, everyone else was early to respond. Our online RSVPs were a total success.

We got an e-mail every time someone responded. I'm not the kind of person who runs out to my mailbox, in anticipation.

P.S. We had a very formal wedding. Did not care. The only RSVP cards I've seen, in the last 5 years have been for informal, rustic, and minimally hosted weddings.

I did both. Only FH family returned the cards by mail (when his parents were in town they took a stack of invites and told FH they would pass them out. They did all this while I was at work and FH just said "ok")

I thought about doing both but ultimately decided on just the actual card. I decided I wanted all my RSVP's coming in one way to try to avoid missing some or some getting lost. I've tried to keep all my ducks in a row as best as possible

I'm planning to do both via website and RSVP cards to give people options

Both! RSVP card and online option. How it goes remains to be seen.

I allowed guests to RSVP online but not a single person actually did. That really depends on thr ground though

I gave only online rsvps for most of my guests. Mostly because most of my friends are software developers or otherwise tech oriented people. Plus it forced them to go to the website to see that I have hotels listed, maps, ect. people have been texting me and asked before I sent them, and it has since stopped. That being said, I did include an option for my older guests, (grandparents, for example) to mail me the rsvps. It was nice getting them in the mail, but I've had guests say the online version was nice.

For the reception and day after brunch, we are only having people use the RSVP card. For the other weekend festivities, casual dinner and bonfire, they are directed to the website to RSVP.
