Different flowers for mother of the bride vs of the groom?

Kenny, on September 8, 2022 at 4:11 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 2
Is it ok for the mother of the bride and the mother of the groom to have different flower pieces? One may want a corsage while I know the other one wants a boutonnière instead. It shouldn’t look weird right? Has anyone else done this? I know the general advice is to ask what they’re comfortable with, but what if it’s different for both? It would be done by the same florist so they should match.

I don't think it would make much difference as far as photos or appearances go.

That being said, women traditionally wear corsages since their clothing doesn't always have a lapel or easy area to pin a boutonnière to. If the MOG/ MOB wants a boutonnière then that's their prerogative, but I'd definitely ask the other which they'd prefer.

It wouldn’t be weird if they didn’t match. I’d suggest asking each of them what they prefer. If one or both wants the pin-on instead, just make sure to highlight that to your florist.
