Difference between a pinned on corsage and a boutonniere?

Private User, on April 27, 2009 at 3:00 PM Posted in Planning 0 2

I am making my own flowers, and a boutonniere will be easier to make than a wrist corsage. Plus I think wrists ones will be a little obnoxious and uncomfortable. But what is the different between a boutonniere and a pinned corsage? Do I have to make them different or can I just make them all the same?

A boutonniere is something a man wears and a coursage is something for a woman. The only difference I've seen between the 2 is basically that a coursage is more frilly since it is for a woman. It may have more leaves to it or even a ribbon. A boutonniere tends to just be the flower with maybe a bigger leaf behind it.

A Boutineer is traditionaly a masculine single flower design that is pinned on the left side of the lapel.

A pinned on corsage is decorated with ribbon bows or multiple flowers in a more feminine arrangement ( softer) that is placed on the shoulder area if pinned.

Actually most of my clients prefer a small wrist corsage using the pretty new "Bracelet: style jewel or pearl bands. They have soft sheer ribbons and one or two small baby roses or daisies etc.

Easy to wear and much younger and Hipper than the granny pin ons of old! LOL

Corsages can be tricky, Go to www.ubloom.com and look at the JTV episodes on creating corsages for a mini lesson. It will make things easier than trying to figure out without flower school training! LOL

There are several great episodes for wedding ideas by J.

    Have fun!
