Diet ?

Future Mrs. Anderson, on June 14, 2019 at 9:25 PM Posted in Planning 0 11
Right now I’m about a size 20 in dresses , my goal for my wedding next July is to be in a Size 14/16 dress. I workout with my trainer/ wedding coordinator 2 times out the week because of my work schedule but when I’m not with her what’s some good tips I can use to loose weight without starving myself?

Losing weight is all about being in a calorie deficit, so burning more calories than you take in. As far as what’s the best way to do that it depends on the individual person. Some people do keto, low carb, whole 30 etc. I would think the easiest is pay attention to the calorie amounts of what you’re eating, try to move everyday, and drink plenty of water and get enough sleep. There are online calculators that will tell you how much you burn and how much you should take in to lose weight.

Portion size is a massive thing. I didn’t realise how much I was eating until I started weighing/measuring my food. Cereal for example - the box has how much a portion is on it. I was eating more than two portions without realising. MyFitnessPal is brilliant to help you track food intake - you can eat whatever you want, but weigh/measure and log it (drinks too). Just do that for a week without changing your eating at all, and see how much you’re consuming. Then work out where you can make swaps to cut calories. Swap soft drink for water. Swap chips for carrot sticks. Swap potato for sweet potato. Make one change at a time and when that feels like it’s sticking, make another change. Losing weight is 80% diet, 20% exercise - you can’t outrun a bad diet.

I agree with this except white potatoes and sweet potatoes are pretty much the same calorically. The only difference is sweet potatoes have more sugar than white and white has more carbs than sweet!

You already got great advice up there. I swear by never eating past 6pm. I go to bed at 10pm and that allows for burning off at least some of my dinner.

I’ve been told to eat before 6pm and if I get hungry after to drink water so it’ll make me full. I’m going to try that.

As you've been told, you need to maintain a deficit through food intake and exercise. Start by making small changes like cutting out sugar, just drinking water instead of juice and so on. Your diet is helps you to get smaller, exercise helps the mind and body as well as increases the deficit for the amount of fat lost.

Make sure as well that you know how much calories you need to take in each day. There are a lot of online calculators, I'd recommend If It Fits Your Macros, Macros or if you eat a keto diet, Ketogains. At the same time, don't obsess too much about your calorie intake or what the scale says. Focus on getting in proteins, moderate amt of carbs and healthy fats each day.

Plan your exercise in advance. Even just telling yourself that between __ and __ time you will do ____ at the gym or at home will make it more likely that you do it. Make it a habit and try to stick to it every day. Look for extra opportunities to burn calories.. simple things like using stairs or going for walks.

Also remember to take before pics and pics along your journey. That and your clothes are the healthiest indicators of success, living on the scale will confuse you. Be wary of myths like when to eat and stuff.. I eat sometimes after 9pm and I've lost a bit of weight. What's important is getting the right nutrients in ans creating healthy habits. Of course if you don't want to eat after a certain time that's fine too.

I agree with what everyone else says but most of all take pics. I’m officially down 20 lbs & I have one photo (of me very much sucking it in) of my before weight. I wish that I have more photos to show my progress.

Have you tried MyFitnessPal? That and watching my portion sizes has helped me a ton! You can always eat a lot bigger portions of healthy real food then you can packaged food, so I've tried eating more of the real stuff! 😊

I have been drinking lots of water and cutting back. Everyday for breakfast I eat two eggs and two strips of bacon. For lunch I have water and and a lean cuisine or a salad or if I eat a regular lunch I'll eat a small portion or half. For dinner I do the same. And on the weekends I eat what I want but in a smaller portion. For example I'll eat one slice of pizza instead of two. Or I'll eat half a burger and half the fries(if I'm really craving that kind of food). or I may do the burger without the bread. And I never use any Mayo Ranch etc

I found for me that when I deprive myself I pig out and eat more than I should. So It works for me. I was 210 and now I'm 178. I was in a 14/16. Now a 16 is wayyyyyyyyy too big. I wear a 14 in skinny jeans and a 12 in regular jeans.
