Hi all! I'm in the planning stages and currently researching photographers. (This is such a daunting process!!) they all have various packages... Some with albums, some without. Just curious what everyone else is going and if those that have already had their wedding found this to be a worthwhile expense?

Mine is including one free of charge. I wouldn't pay for it if it was that much.

Both photographers I met with did bring a sample album, and they were nice... but not $600 nice. They're hard cover and flush mount / lay flat... but both only 20 pages with about 1-3 photos per page.

But I realize I'm also not an expert in professional photography, so it probably just seems like it's overpriced because $600 is a lot of money to me.

We are going to be buying an album from our photographer for our wedding anniversary.

Sure, I could do it myself for cheaper, but it's been a year and I haven't done it. I'll probably never do it myself. #procrastination

Also, if I do it through her, I just pick the pictures I want, and she does the layout and styles and will even add a few more pictures if needed. All of hers that I've seen look beautiful and are totally worth it. But her's are nowhere near $600, that seems like a lot. I think the biggest ones were $300?

I didn't and I wish I had...because my wedding was almost two years ago and I still haven't gotten around to making my own.

Yes, we did. We get a 10X10 for ourselves and two 6X6 mothers' albums (same layout). It's all part of the package we chose with our photographer so I'm not sure what the breakdown is, but it was important to us to have those.

I didn't get an album because my husband and I wouldn't want one. We don't want to have a photo book like that sitting out on a coffee table for guests to look at.

If you do want a photo book though, I've heard that it is very much worth it going through your photographer. That they are able to make a beautiful product that will last your lifetime. But, you have to want the photo book and want to have it out for people to see and look through.

I'm told the book is worth the money, what you need to ask yourself is do you even want a book in the first place.
