Did you give all your guests copies of wedding pictures?

The Sealpups, on January 16, 2020 at 5:18 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 9
For our wedding, we made:
- highlight photo books for our two sets of parents
- printed pictures with special paper for our grandparents, bridesmaids, groomsmen, Godparents, and parents. They each got 2-3 pictures with us or group pics - each guest (who took pictures with us at cocktail hour) received a copy + a magnet picture of our big group picture (bride + groom and guests) after the ceremony
We gifted the magnet to those family members who couldn’t attend but still sent their congratulations and gifts.
That’s enough, right? Nope. My husband’s grandmother wants more copies of what we gave her so she can send them to her sisters (who were apparently they were asking) 🤦🏻‍♀️ Husband and I were very strict with our photos. Knowing our family, if we allowed a family member to request pictures, then they’ll all ask for their own copies. We didn’t post any on social media and made notes to guests saying that the pictures were copyrighted, meaning they couldn’t make copies or upload to social media.
What should we do? She the type where if she asks for one thing, she’ll push for a big request. She’s offering to pay but it’s just another thing to add on my plate

Why won’t you let them make their own copies? Or email them? I don’t understand

We made photo albums for parents. For grandparents, aunts/uncles, friends etc we sent them the link to our online gallery so they could download and print out whatever pictures they wanted.

We’re very private and protective of what we put out there, including our pictures. We’re not as open like other couples. Also, our photographer asks that if we were to upload, we would need to credit him, which is understandable. Most people in our family wouldn’t do this

Ok, I guess I just don’t understand then why you’re upset that people want more photos lol. If you don’t want them bugging you to print them more copies, you should let them print themselves. Can you upload to Dropbox maybe and just share the link with your relatives? That way they can print as many as they’d like.

Daughter and SIL's photographer package included all print/download rights, so they just shared the link with wedding guests/extended family and told them to download/print whatever they wanted. I never noticed anyone putting stuff on social media. If grandma's sisters want copies, I'd probably just order prints for her through Shutterfly or whatever photo printer you like. But, if you are really concerned about privacy issues, I'd probably just tell g-ma, "okay, as soon as I get to it!" and forget about it.

I think you've done more than enough. If she wants to give photos to her sisters, why can't she make copies?

Our photographer has a blog and will choose the 40-50 best photos, and it can be public for everyone if we choose. Whoever wants photos can go there and print them. We will get every picture though after editing.

I couldn't care less who printed them or made copies. We shared our album of 1,000+ pictures with all the wedding party, parents & siblings. And anyone else who asked. We posted an album of about 400 on Facebook. There were a ton of super cute pictures of our guests we wanted them to share. We made albums for each of our parents and the bridesmaids.

I made albums for parents, copies for siblings, wedding party and grandparents, and online/text for other friends

We are pretty private and don't post on social media either. However, I just shared the link to the wedding photos with family and the bridal party. I feel like these are their memories just as much as ours.
