You sign it with your maiden name because your name change isn't legal yet

As far as I know you sign it with your legal name at the time of the wedding.

Um....did you have a pro officiant? That's who you should ask, honestly.

Until you mechanically and officially change your name, your maiden name is your name.

@asta her parents stayed home to watch her children ( they were guests as well) and she came without her children and we haven't spoken since lol. Someone made the comment who is also a family member of hers and said "wow there sure are a lot of kids here" and I heard it and snapped my head around and said "there's 5 kids and they are immediate family 2 are twins" and left it at that.

Maybe depends on the state. In New York, I was told to sign my new name by our officiant.

@celia yeah I know that's why I started freaking out like what the fuck he's SUPPOSED to know these things even if it is only his second wedding.

In FL you sign it at the clerks office when you pick it up. You have to sign your current legal name, not what you'll be changing your name to.

@Savanah I feel ya. My officiant was my pastor as well but has done well over 50 weddings. Still someone messed up and didn't even announce us as "Mr and Mrs X" before we exited. After we kissed we turned and faced the crowd and we just marched off after a few seconds because he obviously wasn't going to do it. Sucks! Esp when they're supposed to know what they're doing

Savanah, what a small world! I am actually from Fenton. My parents and brother still live there! I am out in Casco now( 26 mile and 94). Did you get married in Fenton? When hubby and I signed our marriage license I was told to sign my new name. I have already changed my name with the secretary of state and they did not say anything about it being wrong.....
