Did i just find my dress??

Rebecca, on June 18, 2019 at 7:19 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 22
I walked into one of the bridal shops here in Lodi on a whim today and tried on some dresses for the first time! This dress was only the second one I tried on and I liked it so much I ended up comparing all the others to it! I love the style and the fact that it has pockets!!! The price is also very close to what I was looking to spend.
Buuuut it is very heavy and the lace on the top is a bit itchy 😔
I just love the look of the dress so much I’m wondering if I should ignore those other two factors!
I am at the same time hoping that I find a dress I love even more (so I don’t have to ignore the two things I don’t like) and NOT hoping that I find another dress because I really really like this one!
Has anyone else LOVED a dress but still had a few things they didn’t like about it and you chose it anyway?
Or was choosing your dress an “It’s PERFECT!” experience??

    It's beautiful!
Yes there are things about my dress that I wish were a bit different but I still went with it because of how beautiful I felt in it

If this is the dress you believe is the one, then you can be okay with the other things

1st you’re beautiful in it and beaming
if you truly believe it’s the one it’s the one and you will forget, but make sure you are comfortable because it’s a long day

Keep the photos and look around a little longer so you dont deal with fomo. But it's beautiful on you!

    It looks great on you!
I personally don’t like heavy dresses, they feel constricting & hard to dance in. I also wouldn’t be able to deal with itchy dress lol.
I’ve seen quite a few dresses with very similar skirt & pockets. So I would keep looking. If you end up comparing every other dress to this one, you’ll know it’s your dress & you can always go back & get it!

WOW. It looks spectacular on you!

Naw, mine wasn't perfect, But I really really liked it. After 8-10 stores, it was the first one I thought "Ooh, I'm pretty!" so I got it.

Some weight will be taking off in alterations, but truthfully if you love it and love the way it
makes you feel, go for it. A seamstress may even think of a way to make it less itchy. Maybe some sort of shear lining etc. my dress felt heavy too but I love it so much. And after it was altered to my height it felt lighter. Even lighter once it’s all bustled up

My dress wasn't perfect. I'm changing my dress to make it more 'me!' I am removing the illusion back/neck and having a corset put in.

I wonder if you can do a nude lining under the lace to eliminate the itchiness.. 🧐🧐 you look gorgeous!!!

You look beautiful and really happy in the dress. I agree with others about your seamstress potentially being able to fix the "itch factor." Daughter loved her dress, but the beaded straps turned her shoulders bright red within about 20 seconds. In alterations, they added a shear lining underneath the straps and completely fixed that issue. However, I also agree with you and others that you should keep looking to be sure you don't find another dress that is even more perfect for you. Smiley heart

You look stunning in that dress and so happy in it!

Keep looking at the pictures of you in it and really think.

I tried on my dress at a different shop and wasn't sure but I felt my stomach drop in a good way when I tried it on. I wasn't sure if it was simply because the dress was beautiful or if it was *the* dress until I went about a month before I tried it on again at a different shop and almost started tearing up.

Also, keep in mind of when you're getting married. If you have a summer wedding with a heavy satin dress, you could be uncomfortable on your wedding day and you don't want that!

I haven’t made a decision yet! I actually went back to the shop this past weekend with my bride tribe and tried this one back on and a few others, but ended up trying on another one I really liked and couldn’t decide between the two! So I think I need to think on it and maybe take another trip back to the shop..
Attaching a picture of the second dress! Please ignore my hideous sunburn LOL

I think that dress is absolutely gorgeous on you. Is there any way to get some kind of illusion material added to it to make a kind of barrier between your skin and the lace so it's not so itchy?

I had an "it's perfect moment" with my dress and then started doubting it 2 weeks later xD I was able to fall back in love with my dress but it was tough. Having "the moment" isn't always the end of it xD

The 2nd dress is also quite lovely, is it less itchy and lighter?

Yes, I felt like all of the wedding shows I watch made me think I should be crying when I found “the one” but no tears for any dress yet!
I think they said they may be able to add something under it to make the top less itchy and that it will be lighter once they hem it to my height.
The second dress wasn’t itchy at all and definitely a bit lighter.

My mom cried when I put my dress on and fell in love, I didn’t xD. I tried on exactly 1 Dress with sleeves because they were so itchy I couldn’t get the dress off fast enough.

Hopefully they can can help you out and make it better if that’s the one you go with
