Did FH wear shorts for engagement photos?

FH wore khaki (non cargo!) shorts, but our engagements photos were on a beach and we weren't wearing shoes...

My FH wore shorts in one of our outfits, it was hot as balls outside so I was totally okay with it.

Maybe one outfit with pants and one with shorts? That way if you hate it you have some with pants.

He would have worn shorts if it wasn't 19 degrees out the day we had them Done lol

DH wore shorts in the casual part of ours, but they were nice-ish black ones, not like basketball shorts or cargo ones haha. We took them in July and it was like a bazillion degrees!! I'll have to see if we have pictures of later when I get home (I'm at work ..shh).

We got ours done in the fall, so FH wore jeans. If we had them done in the summer, there's no way I would've been able to make him wear pants! I think shorts would look fine.

Are we talking tailored shorts or cargo shorts? If it's cargo shorts, I say no way - anything you'd throw on to run to the grocery store to me is not appropriate for engagement photos

If you're talking about a nice tailored button-down shirt and a pair of tailored chino shorts (hitting at or above the knee), worn with shoes with no socks, and you in a cute summer dress, skirt, or jeans, then I think it will look fine. It's all about coordinating not just the colors, but the style - if you are wearing a wrap dress and pumps, then he should be in long pants, either nice jeans or chinos and a button-down.

As for his shoes: does he only own one pair? I find a lot of guys don't realize that not all shoes go with all pants/shorts... You could also just buy him some new shoes that you don't mind with his shorts My FH has brown and navy boat shoes, brown leather slip-ons, tan suede slip-ons, and various others.... I'll go take a few pics for you, in case it helps. If he has wide feet, let me know - my DH only wore Sketchers when I met him b/c he didn't realize he had wide feet, and complained everything hurt. Now he knows how to find shoes that fit and viola - he has appropriate ones for every occassion

Here's my DH's 3 shoes, other than flipflops, that he wears with shorts. They all are worn without socks, and they look very nice.

Shorts are fine as long as they're nice shorts, throw on some loafers and you're good. But no sneakers/socks showing anything like that.

And no they aren't sport shorts or cargos--- what we picked out last night was navy chino shorts from JCrew and button up shirt that was long sleeves, but rolled. And I had picked out a sundress to wear when he wears that outfit.

@Rebecca--- my shoe dilemma with him is that he never wants to get new shoes... but he really needs more universal shoes... he wears a suit to work every day so he has a bunch of dress shoes and says that he doesn't want to spend money on new shoes "just to wear on the weekend"... but I get so frustrated with that mentality because dress shoes don't go with casual outfits and he looks ridiculous! And normally I don't care, I clearly don't love him for his fashion sense, but these are photos lol so I feel like the shoes need to match his outfit. I might post a picture of his outfit later and ask you for opinions on what shoes to buy to match!

If you can think of any based on my description --navy chino shorts with long sleeve button up, please feel free to send ideas my way! I'm just not near his clothes right now to take a picture!

Mind wore shorts but I wore shorts too and we both did sandals...it was super hot so THANK GOD we did!

This is what we had pulled out but I don't know if the two different blues look weird together... His pants are a really dark navy (almost black). The shirt is white with pink and blue lines on it. The blue on his shirt matches my dress.

He did for one set; he is a habitual sandal wearer...

He wore jeans because it was Fall.

My FH wore jeans and under amour because with the wind chill it was 13 degrees and we were on the water haha. His summer dress shoes are boat shoes. That's what he usually wears with shorts.

Now you guys are making me nervous. FH only wears cargo shorts. That's all he has besides gym shorts. There is no way I would make him wear pants either in 90 degree weather.

Thanks guys! I think I need to go buy him boat shoes!!! Do you think our colors/outfits clash? ... Now he's saying he's just going to keep his suit on from work. But I don't want him to be miserable. A suit outside in August! Oof!

We did one with pants and one with shorts. The one with shorts we were on the beach barefoot and in the grass he had flip flops which I wish he had nicer flipflops on but I guess it shows his usual style.
