Did anyone regret letting their bridesmaids pick their own dresses?

I wanted them in all different dresses, just same color, we all took a trip to DB they tried on a bunch and we found that the different fabrics didn't photograph well together. So we narrowed it down to same fabric and color and they chose from two different styles. some have straps some have strapless.

Just give them a little more guidance, like color fabric and tell them let you approve before they purchase.

I did. They all picked out really pretty dresses in dark green. They all have some lace and beading in them though so there's a theme. They're going to look so pretty!

I told my girls I wanted a certain color and fabric and they ended up liking the same two dresses. I don't think you should worry about it

I have given them a color and said go for it. I don't think I will regret my BM feeling beautiful in a dress of their choosing.

I did this. I don't really care what my friends wear. I just want them to feel comfortable!

I just took my bridesmaids shopping at David's bridal and I picked 2 colors and let them pick any style that was long. I think they all look great together and each girl was very appreciate and comfortable in her dress.

My sister did and I hate saying this, but I wish she stuck with her original plan. Ceremony was awesome, but I wish the three of us had at least the same color on.

Personal preference.

My girls all ended up liking the same dress (that have different tops) and it is gorgeous. My MOHs have different tops than the other bridesmaids.

Are you more concerned you won't like the shade of color they pick out, or the style? I used Azazie and picked the color, so all the dresses were the exact same color, and told them they could do any style they wanted. They range from 4'11 to 6'0 and from AA to DD, so I wanted them to be comfortable. They each picked a dress that fit them and showcased their personality and we were all happy. If there's a certain style you dislike, you could ask them not to pick that.

I've seen it look strange when the bride is really general- like wear a green dress. The girls interpreted "green" really liberally.

I have eight bridesmaids. My plan was to choose the color and they could choose whatever dress they feel comfortable in. FHs sister complained that it was just too difficult, so I ended up choosing four dress for them to choose from. It's basically the same dress, but different top/strap styles so they can choose which they feel most comfortable in. Here is an example of the one shoulder one. Luckily everyone really like the dress and they can still feel comfortable.

Not at all. I picked the color...the girls picked their dresses. They ended up picking the same dress and they were gorgeous.

I gave my girls a range of colors and just asked for floor length. They blew me away with their choices! I can't wait to see everything all together on my day

My ex SIL just told us long and red and it was AWFUL. Everyone went in completely different directions, which wouldn't have been so bad, except that the shades of red were so completely different. One orange red, one bluish red, one blood red, it was a mess. Depending on your color, I would definitely give the bridesmaids a color swatch. Red looks REALLY tacky when it doesn't match, but I've seen a lot of other colors mismatch beautifully.

I gave everyone a color and length and this is what I ended up with. I'm actually so excited to see it come together the day of. I had everyone show me what they were considering and a few girls asked me to come with them to help pick it out.

Mine have to get theirs from azazie. Told them color and length and that it had to be chiffon and giving them free reign.

I let all 3 of my bridesmaids choose their own dress. I just specified the style. It seems to have worked out fine. I went with each of them to help.

I gave them a designer, long, navy and chiffon and they picked from there. I like the mismatched look. And each girl will look beautiful.
