Did anyone price match their dress?

The title pretty much says it all. I tried on my dress at 2 stores and they each have a different price. I would much rather buy from the one that has it listed a bit more expensive because they're a local shop. I left a voicemail explaining the situation and asked them to call back if there's...

I would much rather buy from the one that has it listed a bit more expensive because they're a local shop. I left a voicemail explaining the situation and asked them to call back if there's something we could work out together. Anyone else attempt to negotiate the price of their dress?

Edit: It's not a matter of affording the dress, I would just like to save where I can Smiley smile

Edit: I changed the wording since "haggle" wasn't exactly the right word.

I didn't because I already felt I was ahead by finding a dress for 2000 under budget.

I did. I fell in love with a dress double my budget. I called every store that carried the designer to find the cheapest cost (which I think may have been a knockoff because it was wayyyy less than other stores quoted). I then called the initial store letting them know what I'd been quoted elsewhere but that I preferred to buy from them. They didn't go down to the cheapest price but did take several hundred off and gave me a $250 accessory credit which covered my veil.

I told my stylist my budget, and she found discounts to get me my dream dress and to save me money on my veil. I think we ended up saving around $400 on everything if I'm not mistaken.

If they threw in a veil or discount on accessories I'd definitely consider it! They open in 30 minutes and I left a voicemail. I'm so eager, I just want my dress!

I wouldn't call this haggling. You're just asking for a price match! And I think it's completely reasonable to ask for equal pricing. What's the worse they can say?

LOL! actually you totally can "haggle" target....they price match!!!! I also think that wedding dresses and weddings in general are severely overpriced, so if another store can sell it for less its worth asking...now they have the option to get some $ or say no and risk losing the sale all together. It actually, in my opinion, gives the store the chance to keep a sale they may have otherwise entirely lost if the customer did not ask. You should demand it but why not ask?
