Did anyone buy their dress online (aka from China)?

did anyone buy their dress online from one of those knock-off sites? Any success or horror stories? I was thinking about going to try on designer dresses and ordering a knock-off of the same dress online for 1/4th of the price. Most of them are made in china/korea.

I just found this site googling reviews of wedding gowns from China. Well, count me in as another naysayer. It seemed like such a great deal on ebay. The seller was dreamweddings2012 or something like that. After 7 weeks of waiting I was all excited to receive the dress. It came in a small plastic bag, which was surprising. The dress was so flimsy and poor quality, no wonder they were able to fold it up and pack it into a bag the size of a grocery bag. It looked like a reject from JC Penney's prom selection for teens, with lace netting hanging off, strings hanging out all over, torn and loose lace bits, and worst of all, asymmetrically applied lacy parts, some sticking up much higher on one side at the very top, front and back of the dress. My sister saw pictures and immediately said it looked cheap. So far the buyer is being very nice and saying they'll refund me, but it cost almost $50 to ship that sloppily made cheap dress back to China, and I spent half an hour at the post office repacking, waiting, and filling out forms. Express mail would have been over $100! I don't know if they'll even pay me back half of my return shipping cost. It takes 3-4 weeks to get there, so meanwhile, I'm out $135 and who knows when and if I will get my refund. Never again. It was so not worth the hassle. At first I thought I could re-sell the dress, but who would want such a thing?

I have had customers share their poor experience of not being able to receive any correspondence once these companies from China had their money. The biggest concern is the lack of quality in the fabric, detail of embellishments and overall design (See video by Inside Edition below). I would recommend to STAY AWAY!!!!

For anyone wondering whether a website is from China (which these are from), we have put together a list of over 3000 sites (and counting) that you should stay away from.

Watch the videos as well to help educate yourself.

You can also share your experience if you ever ordered from one of these sites on our list and help others.

I was worried about the same thing. I found a bridesmaid dress I wanted on a Chinese site, then tried to find it elsewhere. No luck. I tried google image search. I tried typing in key words. I posted on message boards asking for help. I physically went into several different bridal stores with a picture asking if they carried it or knew who the original designer was. I then started contacting seamstresses in my area and on modcloth, and esty trying to find anyone who could make the dress for my bridesmaids.

I did my research and I heard so many horror stories I was determined not to throw my money away. But my mom ordered one despite my warnings. It came today. It is absolutely perfect. It looks exactly like they promised, good quality, fast turn around. I was legitimately shocked. I still am. All the evidence points to this being a bad idea so maybe I just got lucky? But ordering from China isn't an immediate death sentence.

PACgirl: I got their dresses from UWDress . com

Don't know if it will work as well for the next dress I order from them, or work as well for you, but they worked once.
