Has anyone bought their wedding dress from dhgate. Yes I know this is overseas but I’m curious if anyone has bought theirs and loves it!

I haven’t bought anything from that site but I know it’s an Asian knock off site. So what you see online is a picture of the actual designer dress and then someone rips off that design and tries to replicate it. It’s not something I would want to risk with my wedding dress or would feel comfortable with morally.

I purchased my first dress from Dhgate seller manweisi after becoming overly obsessed with Berta gowns. I included very thorough tweaks I wanted with the gown, opaque instead of see through, white, less pluging neckline, and provided my measurements, also requesting cups be added in.

It came in the time frame as expected, quality was good for the price I paid ($300) and measurements were a little off (a few sizes too large in the chest) but overall close to the source of inspiration and a fraction of the cost of the original ($9000). Getting alterations would have been another cost as anticipated. Ultimately I decided on a different silhouette and sold the Dhgate dress on tradesy and got my money back.

If you can afford the time and patience to experiment, go with very high ratings for a seller and make sure communication goes smoothly.

Otherwise if you're willing to shell out more (~$800) try out Dressanomalie, they're based in SF I believe and you make your dress with them, sharing inspiration and all. I have a friend that went with them and it turned out magically.

Oh and here's the original dress I was eyeing before I requested all the aforementioned changes. They listened well!

Totally agree with this. For real designer quality, you can also ask bridal shops about discontinued dresses (I bought my reception dress for less than $200), or try used dress websites like PreOwnedWeddingDresses or Tradesy.

I am going to look for discontinued dresses next week, I found a bride shop that resells them for discounted price! I was originally going to order a $200 dress online, but decided it's best to go in-store, pay the same price or a little more, and be more confident In my purchase. I'd hate to waste that $200 and not enjoy my online purchase, and worst case scenario not like it and have to resell it. Fingers crossed my dress appointment goes well next Thursday and that I can purchase (or put a down payment down) on my dream dress! No family here so I'm pretty nervous!

Yay! Good thinking! I did order a custom skirt from eBay to save money and I couldn't find any in bridal stores... well-made but did NOT look designer quality. So I wasted $120. Smiley cry But then I found a gorgeous Morilee skirt for $400! At the same bridal shop is where I found my reception dress...originally only $650 but discontinued so less than $200!

It's ok if it takes you a few stores. Enjoy the shopping!!!

I did and didn't like it. I didn't read the reviews and wish I would have did more research. I ended up finding a 900 dress from DB at the Goodwill for only $50!

Not a wedding dress, but my cousin got married & I was a bridesmaid. She found this beautiful bridesmaid dress she wanted us to buy & super reasonable as it was under $100. It ended up going out of stock before she decided 100% that was the dress she wanted us to buy. She found it on DH gate & we all purchased it. Some of us purchased it a little later than others & materials & styles were all slightly different. It ended up looked as if it was intended though. I ordered mine with custom measurements hoping that would be a better fit. I got it a little bigger & a little longer to make sure it wouldnt be too small or short. It definitely did not fit right. There were breast cups, but they were nearly at my collarbone lol. After talking to the other girls, everyone said the same thing. (I tried a couple different things like the sticky tape or little stick on bra thing, but the cups in the dress were WAY too high). The dress wasn't all that comfortable, but could've been worse. They all looked good in the pictures, but I wouldnt really recommend ordering off of there. It was a big headache during the alterations & the only thing the seamstress was actually able to do with the dress was shorten the length since we wore flats. I attached a pic just to show that pictures came out really pretty 😊 lol
