Dedicated October 2019

Devastated, hurt, humiliated and the end

Nicole, on September 26, 2019 at 9:59 PM Posted in Family and Relationships 0 27
Ya’ll 30 days before my destination wedding and I called it off. 😭 My fiancé and I were really struggling with our differences in parenting (in counseling) and tonight things blew up to a whole new level. I took of my ring, grabbed my child and our dog and left the house. He said when I return the locks and PIN number to our home will be changed. That is my house too and now my son and I are left scrambling to find a new place. I’m sorry I’m airing my dirty laundry here, I shouldn’t I just need to get it out. 😭😭😭

If he does that you can contact the police because he can't lawfully evict you

He can't just throw you out like that - you're a legal resident and as such, he has to give you the required notice, whatever it might be where you live. Call the police if you need to, but he's very much in the wrong. Are you on the lease/mortgage? Even if you're not, you still have rights.

First of all I’m sorry for what you’re going through. If your name is on the lease or mortgage he can’t kick you out so contact someone this morning for help. You and your child should not be treated like this. Good luck.

Thank you all for your kind worlds. I am on the mortgage, yes and will be in contact with a real estate attorney today to see what my rights are. I hope it gets better. This was literally one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make in my life 😭

I’m so sorry you are going through this. Do you have family nearby? Legally, even if your name isn’t on the house, he cannot kick you out. Tell him you will involve the authorities and see how fast those locks don’t change. Sending you love honey

If anything his response should re affirm why it is a good thing you are NOT marrying this guy. What man does something like this... It will work out, everything eventually does! Hang in there!!!

I'm so sorry my love that you are going through this. He cant change the locks on you and your son, thats illegal. Call the police and ask them to have you to come get your stuff. Then yo can go to civil court if need be later

If that is your legal residence - where you receive your mail - he has no right to lock you out. Good luck girl, sounds like you’re in for a battle! Stay strong!

Very sorry to hear you had to do this but like the previous posters have said you are strong to even have made the decision. The house is yours too so don't fret over that. He can changes the access points now but in the end, he will have to share it with you. I am wishing you the best as you move forward.
