Devastated and torn!!!

Lucy, on March 24, 2020 at 6:56 PM Posted in Community Conversations 1 13

Last week we decided to postpone our wedding to August 1st when the venue is available. It took almost a year of planning and to make all my decorations and wedding favors. We were supposed to have an awesome wedding with our family and an amazing honeymoon. Now both are on hold. The resort emailed to say they are shutting down too. Everything says or 04.04.20. Now what do I do when our wedding reception is now August? I was so ready to put everything in a box and toss it. That’s how mad and devastated I was with this whole situation. My friend said leave them like that since it was the date I picked.

Today my fiancé said we are still getting married April 4th as planned. He reached out to his pastor and set it up. I guess it will be just us, my two boys, and my parents. He wants to tell our maid of honor and best man but I am not sure with everything going on. What do I do? Do I tell them and have them come over? What do I do with all my decorations and wedding favors that have April 4th? Do I still use them for my reception in August? I mean, I am still getting married April 4th.

Firs of all, I'm so sorry this happened!

Second, if you are still getting officially married on April 4th - keep all your things dated with your wedding / legal marriage date!

I would still use them at the reception since that is your official wedding date. The people at your reception will understand and years from now you'll have a lasting memory about how you stayed positive during a tough time in the World.

Thank you! Today changed things I guess. Maybe it won’t be that bad. Just crazy times right now.

I would ask them if the MOH and BM would want to attend given their title. And I would keep the dates the same because although your having your wedding later that will still be your marriage date.

I’m sorry! Maybe do what everyone is suggesting I do. Keep them! This was supposed to be one of the best day of my life as I’m sure for you too. Best of luck with everything. 💕

Another vote here for keeping all the decorations and dated items just as they are! Your guests will certainly understand and will probably love seeing mementos of the fact that you still got to have your original wedding date despite everything going on in the world. Your fiancé sounds so sweet to have gone ahead and set that up, you're definitely marrying the right person Smiley heart
